Best taxidermy in alberta

Hey guys, so my taxidermist is no longer doing big game so I am wondering what you guys would recommend. I have an Antelope I want to get done so if you have pics of your antelope that you've had mounted and would like to share them that'd be much appreciated.
Ones I am considering are: Artistic, Silver Willow and Alberta Taxidermy so if you have feed back on those that'd be great but I'm open to hear what else is recommended for the best Antelope mount. I have not visited any shops yet but I will be once I hear what is good and what is not. TIA Pics won't upload sorry

Those 3 you chose do great work, I took my goat to Artistic and am very pleased with it.

I haven't seen anything in person, but every mount that silver willow does is stunning, and I will be taking anything I need to them.

I would give Solitude taxidermy a close look. Darren an Caroline Carter are amazing artists!:)

Sugar Creek hands down the best!

BackPackHunter 09-30-2017 07:55 AM

I've got a Ram done by Sugar Creek .

Artistic is night & day , 100% better in every way

Thanks for the feed back guys. I'm leaning towards Artistic or Alberta Taxidermy, there's about a $250 difference between the two. Anyone used Alberta Taxidermy?

Worth a look for sure. Just dropped my bear off to them and they have a very nice show room.

A cousin and myself used Alberta taxidermy for 2 wood bison. They did an outstanding job. I did see quite a few animals in their shop, but no antelope. To me the tear ducts on their deer look a bit different, but a quality job in every way. I have also used trails end from the DV area and he does great work on shoulder mounts also.

Are you saying Artistic is better than Sugar Creek? I might be looking for a taxidermy for a mule deer mount and right now I can't decide between the two. Let me know

They are not even in the same league
the ram from sugar needs to be redone, you can see plywood through the rock work, the "base" big box of wood , the ram isn't very stable on it
It looks like he cut the foam mount to turn the head n didn't clean the foam n it really pops out very unnatural,
It's was almost 2k
Artistic is a lot better pricing and you get a lot better value

Ruffneckcountry would you be so kind to post a pic of your bear from SG 😁

mightybuck 09-30-2017 09:05 PM

Taxidermist

Artistic by far the best in the province. A buddy has a guy in Bc that is great too if you need his name send me a message. Brian at artistic makes your mount look real his eyes and ears are perfect every time. By far you pay for what you get . If it is worth mounting PAY the Price

Best Taxidermist in Alberta...

If your talking best all around taxidermist it is Ben Khorshisnam at Art of Taxidermy in Lethbridge ...he is the best bird guy in Canada and he does phenomenal big game too and for those reason's he is the best in the province.

I’d been thinking heavy about using Top Notch but for the driving and how yours turned out, I’m going to go with Brian. I was going to take my 213” mule to him in 2006 and although I did get a quality mount elsewhere, I feel I dropped the ball and it could have been better.

He does great work ALL the time. You don't get any long weekend Friday jobs from him that's for sure. The wait time is roughly a year sometimes shorter/longer but well worth the wait. Best to contact him before your trip and line it all up, let him know you would like to bring in your antelope when you get it. Good luck!

There is more than one taxidermist in this province that can run circles around his big game heads. I think he might even conced that.
