Ball park figure needed....

Been thinking lately I would like to build a garage in my back yard. I would like someone to give me a ballpark figure as to how much it would cost. I can do the roofing, siding, insulation, eavestrough.
24x24, concrete pad, digging for the pad, 110/220 wiring, plumbing framing garage door opening/opener, gas line for heater.
What do you think? BEL

Mine is 40 x 26. in floor heat, boiler, led lighting, heavy insulation, stucco, brick front, standard 16' door, man door, did most of the work myself. Around $60,000 if i remember correctly.

$20,000...

With proper wiring, "lots of outlets" 25 to 30 grand. If at all possible go to 9 ft walls. Go overkill on the lighting as well.

High walls, extra lighting, 16 foot door. Good info. Keep it coming. BEL

Does that price include the beer fridge?

Had a garage built last summer 26 x28. 9 foot walls, two garage doors 10 and 11 feet wide. One man door, natural gas heat, floor drain. Lots of windows. Only thing I forgot was to make at least one window with a slide or crank to open it. $60000 all in. I didn’t do a thing but supply gravel for the base

Plumbing? I guess I'm living in the dark ages. The 'plumbing' in my garage consists of an empty washer fluid jug in the corner. No, I don't share. Bring your own.

I just priced a garage package, 20’ x 30’, 2x6” walls, 10’ high. 16’ wide door, vinyl siding, and insulation included. One man door and two windows, no wiring, concrete, or interior finish. Came out close to $12,500.

Also go with the highest door you can with the wall height you decide. The old ‘standard’ 7’ high door sucks for most trucks and vans.

24 x30 with attached 12 ft car port. Gas heat. two bay doors man door. cement pad, insulated foundation, four 4x4 windows 10 ft celing, garage door openers, 2x6 construction, completely finished in & out. Paid 55k total. Hernia didn't let me be a very good helper.

I have a 38w x 25 deep it was 612,000 and they threw in the house that was attached to it.

Thanks guys. Everyone I spoke with said high walls. BEL

High walls but check to make sure it doesn't exceed height restrictions for total garage height.... I'm pretty sure I was told when I built that in calgary theres a height restriction for garage height....
I built a 24 wide and 22' deep.... offset the door to one side, a side mount garage door opener ( lift master is the cats meow ), storage truss' with a drop down ladder, as many plugs as possible, 220/110V, gas heater, if I was to do it again... I'd pour a pony wall, and to cut waste when building any and all sheeting is for the most part 4x8 so building in those increments help (except for the garage pad...lol) Id also go 24 deep

If you can, get the storage trusses as well. utilize the attic as much as possible. also make sure the garage door is at least 8' high instead the standard 7' door.

Use OSB for the inside walls instead of gyprock, more robust and less likely to accidentally punch a hole in it.

I put my back alley plugs on a switch so you can turn them off if you want.

have your plugs done in 20Amp and not 15AMP and not all on the same circuit.

CritterCommander 02-26-2018 11:29 AM

Build in a beam to hang game from. If you have an RV or think you may someday, put in a 30amp plug for it. Lots and lots of plug ins. OSB on the walls and ceiling is excellent. Decide on heat source or future heat source and make allowances. I would go 12 foot ceilings with 10 foot doors too.

i built one myself 4 years ago 24by 24 did all work. footing, 18"pony wall garage pkg from star(cheapest).for under 18 grand.Regular trusses but was able to make decent storage in attic.

built one last summer 30x24 with 12 ft walls (2x6) and 10'-6" high x 16 overhead door
fully finished and heated was aprox 30K
paid to have concrete with sump ( no drain due to stupid bylaw)
framing and shingles installed
did all the electrical myself and had a plumber buddy give me a hand with the gas
