Back in Style: The Fur Trade
Quote from the December 24, New York Times article:
"As humble beaver skins circle the world at steadily rising prices, so goes the fur market as a whole. Buoyed by the globalization of trade and the broader reach of the fashion industry, sales of fur garments, trim and accessories amounted to about $13 billion for the fiscal year ended August 2005, the most recent for which data is available — up 9 percent from the previous year and up 40 percent from five years earlier, according to the International Fur Trade Federation. The organization predicts that fiscal 2006 will show a further climb in sales." This extensive article goes on to describe the current economics of the world-wide fur trade. Lots of interesting information. The next few years might be a good time to be a trapper...? |

There is nothing that compares to real fur. |
RE: Back in Style: The Fur Trade
Just thinking...why is it that the word leather never comes up when the anti's talk about fur? Is it because who really cares about those cute cows?

Bringing up a dead subject but how many use shearling? Or wool? Do they know that those $300 handbags were once an animal's skin too?
Really, how many like leg of lamb? |
