Coyote snaring question

I want to start snaring yotes on private land. What type of snare do you trappers recommend and where is the best place to buy them? I’d prefer to shop in Alberta not online.

Hopefully, as you know, It is required to have your trapping course and license to trap or snare in Alberta, even on private land

What did they suggest in the course?

Nope, I haven’t taken the course and don’t intend to. I have a cousin who has his and will be dragging him out to show me the ropes. I just want to buy my own equipment as he doesn’t trap coyotes.

Best suggestion is to get the course taken care of , weekend course with the Alberta trappers association , covers all details and legalities and paperwork for permission. A resident trapping license is 20$ , then you avoid getting a fine and will probably have a lot more guys who would love to help out with ideas and suggestions . They even show you how to make them in the course so they become very reasonably priced !

Ya, a weekend is reasonable, I thought it was a week long course.

Yes it would be a wise decision to get your trapping license to make everything legal. You must also get the landowner to sign the trapping with permission form with your name on it.
