Winchester 571

I was given 8 pounds of Winchester 571 powder, which of course is no longer made. So I haven't been able to find load data for it.

I would like to use it in my 16 guage. Being that it hasn't been made for a good many years I doubt there would be load data for steel shot but I can use lead loads for Magpie and Crow hunts on the farm, if I can find load data for it.

I've done dozens of google searches and gone through all the shotgun reloading books I have, with no luck.

Anyone have an older book with 16 guage load data for this power?

I'd be happy with a few photocopied pages just for this powder and guage.

571 is right between HS7( faster) and Blue Dot ( slower)
Keg, if that helps .
I am pretty sure I have data somewhere .
On ShotgunWorld.com it is Said that 571 is the same as HS7 which I do not doubt.....

Google search says Winchester 571 is the same powder as Hodgdon HS7. Says Hodgdon used to state that in the manuals. Given that info, I'd call Hodgdon for verification. They own the Winchester powder line these days. Good luck with it...shotgun powders have sure been in short supply for a few years.

Just looked at my copy of Lymans 3rd edition and its only showing 2 loads for the 16ga with that powder and both are 1 1/4oz mag loads. Shoot me a PM if you want them...

this is out of my old MEc manual. This was the only 16 ga data that used 571 in this old manual.

I have. an old Winchester Ball powder reloading manual 1976 that has 16 gauge data for 11/8 oz loads. If your interested I could copy and send you the information.
