Norvice - material holder

I've been frustrated by the lack of a 'material holder' on my Norvice to hold material out of the way, while I work with other items. It has to be able to spin on the cylinder while rotating the fly - which limits an appropriate location to the main cylinder. I've tried stick-on velcro tabs, magnets, and other things, the best I've come up with so far, is a toothbrush head. It works well at holding herl/chenille,tinsel/floss or whatever, but is far from an elegant solution! I've looked for a spring similar to the one holding tension on the jaws, but I've been unable to find the right size to wrap around the cylinder.

Does anyone have a better solution?

Wrap a pipe cleaner around the cylinder and use the ends of the pipi cleaner to fold over and secure the materials?

Go to Claire's (girl's accessory store) and ask for spiral hair ties. They look like a spring but are plastic.

Thanks! I'll see if the spiral hair thingies work!
