The interm agreement has been torn up. The 92 agreement is still current. If your bio is not following this document Dave Kay wants to know. Good news for trappers and thanks to the ATA for all their hard work.

Good news! Did many people attend the meeting? I would have liked to attend but had to work.

Imagine that all the hard working volunteers pulled through AGAIN for us.

Great news....but I am all for them pushing for lines to be used. Hopefully after all this we can figure out something that will be of some good

ROAD HAMMER 09-17-2016 09:00 PM

209x50 09-18-2016 08:38 AM

Now more than ever we need to stand together and belong to the ATA. The ATA was part of the GOA stating that trapping in Alberta was a right not a privilege. Whining on the internet didn't win that battle, hard working VOLUNTEER directors of the ATA DID!

uke hunter 09-20-2016 12:27 PM

What were the results of the election? Did we get a new president or did Gordy's "puppet" win again?

I guess you should have got off your ass and went to the agm and voice your concerns, or better yet maybe volunteer and try to do some good... Likely you will just bitch and complain on AO.

uke hunter 09-20-2016 01:03 PM

With this organization, as soon as you say anything that challenges their way of thinking, they send you slanderous emails and threaten you. Actually spend time to go and see them in person and listen to their BS....no thanks! What a waste of time!

HunterDave 09-20-2016 01:09 PM

Thank you for keeping people informed, 209. Well done to everyone involved in the discussions to get this issue quashed for the time being.

Big Grey Wolf 09-20-2016 06:26 PM

Excellent job ATA management team. It shows when we stick together as a group we can achieve positive results. Those trappers that want to stir up trouble should have their traps taken away and their fur shed locked.

I think that anyone caught lobbying for garbage like this should be inside the shed before the lock goes on it.

More information updates from the ATA today, as was discussed at AGM.

Yes and a very important part that needs to be posted here is This is the agreement that controls the transfer of registered traplines in Alberta. If you cannot get your local bio to follow this agreement Day Kay at AEP wants to hear from you.

A very big thank you to the hardworking volunteers at the ATA and Gordy!

I was in our environment and parks office yesterday to ask about this. I was very quickly told that the new rules still apply and there are no conditional relinquishments. End of story. I have phoned my biologist many times and have not got a phone call back and have emailed mr. Kay. It would be nice if there was solid information on this topic.

sourdough doug 09-29-2016 08:21 AM

If you want 'solid information", read the info post preceeding yours....it's dated
...June 1992.....now I'm confused..
Finally got my ATA membership the other day in the mail...it was paid for in JAN

Big Grey Wolf 09-29-2016 09:06 AM

It appears some Bio's are digging in their heels and not respecting the August 2016 agreement between deputy minister and ATA. The agreement to use existing 1992 transfer document instead of new Bio process should take precedence over one arrogant Bios wishes.

Realbigdoe 09-29-2016 10:05 AM

I have read the posts- many many times. I guess what i mean by "solid info" is some clarity on the subject. I have been told by numerous fellow trappers that the 1992 rules apply. I go into the AEP office and they say that is not true at all. This is what is confusing me on the matter

6tmile 09-29-2016 10:59 AM

Anyone having problems with their area bio's concerning the 1992 agreement vs the new one should contact the ATA post haste!!

sourdough doug 09-29-2016 11:28 AM

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what is to come as long as the biologists and Parks people (PETA) are at the helm. They have screwed up everything else they have touched and now WE are allowing them to drag us around by our d...ks..

HunterDave 09-29-2016 01:29 PM

I've read the Deputy Minister's letter above numerous times and I can't see anywhere where he states that the new agreement has been scrapped.
What it states is that;

"We are undertaking a review.....",

"Elements of the policy review and renewal are still being fully developed.....",

"Moving forward, we assure you that our intent is for a collaborative process to inform this administrative and policy renewal.....", and,

"I look forward to hearing about these discussions and reviewing the innovative solutions....."

To me the letter states that the new policy is being reviewed and is subject to amendment but is not scrapped and being redeveloped. Maybe the letter can be interpreted differently but that's the way that I read it. You'd think that if it was scrapped a simple internal memo from higher informing the Bios that they were to use the 1992 agreement instead of the new agreement would suffice to get everyone on the same track. Maybe there is something else that states that the new agreement has been scrapped but based only on the Deputy Minister's letter, it doesn't appear to me that it has.

Big Grey Wolf 10-01-2016 10:17 AM

Hunter Dave you are correct. When I first read the Deputy Ministers letter I thought is was a typical political double talk saying a lot about nothing, not a real commitment to ATA and trappers.

dugh 10-03-2016 07:58 AM

It's my understanding that talks are ongoing but nothing has changed since 1992. The 1992 act still stands.
