chronomid fly swap

Last fly swap went well and everyone seems interested in another so lets give it a try. I'll try and get my math right this time. I didn't end up with a set of the last swap, just a few extras guys sent in.

Mr Flyguy 01-11-2017 05:29 PM

I'm in. I've got a neat new chironomid pattern in the works.

I'm in. I have a pair of flies that I call my Pulp Fiction Combo, comprised of Samuel L Jackson and a John Travolta. They're an easy tie so I'll include both in the swap.

professori 01-11-2017 06:29 PM

Sure, I'll join in.

I did probably 30-40 fly swaps on the Fly Tying Forum over a 3 or 4 year period http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showforum=24 In most of the swaps the swappers didn't get their own fly back. That covers the swapmeisters flies.

CraigJ 01-11-2017 06:34 PM

I'm wishing I tied flies. I'm still a newbie to fly fishing. Maybe next year for me.

If I'm to late to join this one, maybe you can start a Pike fly swap next. :)

j0rdo 01-13-2017 12:07 PM

You can just count me as 1, I'm just including a second bonus fly as they are an easy tie and come as a set :)

crawad 01-13-2017 02:03 PM

Great I'm in! So do I understand this right?... I make 11 chironomids of one style and send them to you the host?:thinking-006:

professori 01-13-2017 03:12 PM

Mine are done and in the mail now. 12 "coppertop" chironomids (plus some extras for the swapmeister). You should see them early next week.

Stryker2 01-13-2017 03:18 PM

Wow! That was fast! Ok 12 and some extra for the host ...got it! And where do I find the address to send them to?.. Sorry a newbie swapper!

For some of the people who may be new to this:

- the swap host/swapmeister will be responsible for receiving and then redistributing the collection of 12 flies to each participant

- you must send a minimum of 12 in order to ensure all 12 participants receive a set

- if you only send 11, that leaves the swapmeister having to sort through and figure out who sent what resulting in 11 different sets of flies that need to be sent to specific people - obviously way too confusing.

- if you do not have time to fulfill your commitment, do not join the swap.

- flies should be in the hands of the swapmeister by the due date, preferably before.

- NB - there should be a due date chosen and once that due date arrives, the swapmeister should post a message advising if he/she is awaiting any outstanding flies.

- the swapmeister assumes responsibility for postage in order to redistribute the sets, however, in all the swaps I have been involved in, most of the participants choose to send a little cash donation or some nice ties as a thank you for hosting.

Sorry to sound bossy, but I have been involved in my fair share of these that have resulted in some otherwise preventable conflict.
