Sure, it fishes good in the early season. Obviously in the winter, fishing is dependent on decent weather, but it's a blue ribbon trout river once it warms up. Not sure how many people actually target whites down there, but they are in the river.

Does anyone know if this river freezes over out near lundbreck? Thinking of possible plans for this nice weekend coming up

Well I'll give it a shot I guess....maybe I'll ask the fly shops in the pass....see what they have to say....

Biggest rocky mountain whitefish I have ever caught came from the Crowsnest. Took him on a San Juan Worm.

Be sure to read the regs, I believe that below the falls to highway 3 and perhaps even to the reservoirs is closed until June 16!!!

the river downstream of East Hillcrest Bridge to Lundbreck Falls – Open all year.
Apr. 1 to June 15 – Trout limit 0; Mountain Whitefish limit 5 over 30 cm; Bait Ban.
June 16 to Oct. 31 – Trout limit 2; Slot-size limit 30 cm to 45 cm for Cutthroat and Rainbow, only 1 may be longer than 45 cm and the other must be shorter than 30 cm, or both may be shorter; Mountain Whitefish limit 5 over 30 cm; Bait Ban.
Nov. 1 to Mar. 31 – Trout limit 0; Mountain Whitefish limit 5 over 30 cm; Bait Ban.

so ill fish down stream of east hillcrest bridge....and hope to catch some whites!!!!

I called the local fly shop and they said water is low but there are some springs in the area that is open so good chance it's not frozen over. I decided against going this past weekend because of 100km/h wind

Yeah, the wind is the problem. I contemplated going last weekend but didn't in the end. I'd like to try. The earliest I've ever fished the before is more into March. I've never fly fished in the dead of winter anywhere around here, not even the Bow.

Crow

Below the east hillcrest bridge to the first corner, is still frozen, and not fishable.
It may be open below, but be careful of ice shelving . I have not checked further east.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......wow.......I talked to fishing place in the pass...they said not to many whites cause of silt?

Don't get it.....that's where I was gunna go...so it's completely frozen over downstream from East Hillcrest bridge?

Might have to wait for March or April?

Now.I'm panicking

Ewwww

Crow

From the bridge, down to the first corner. After that I have not looked.

Pretty fishable

Downstream from the Hwy 3 bridge.

There's some good spots downstream of the LeeLake bridge.

1-2 pm rising chronomid if there's a chinook is good.

Slow red chroni or copper john in the big holes.

Lots of big ice shelves...

happyfisher 02-02-2017 07:14 PM

Nice....I always fish east Hillcrest.....I'll try the bridge below the river by Lee lake.....more sun there too....

Thanks a million...I will head down next week to get some whites....

Prince nymph? San Juan and dropper copper John ?

Any ideas?
