The Dutch are world renowned for their dams, silly.

Dad called himself a "damned immigrant" or some variant of because that's what he was called by the ignorant few when he first arrived. He used it for motivation.

Congrats to your family. My son in law is one of those Dutch immigrants as well.

We immigrants, especially of that era, came to this country motivated to do well, there was no fall back position at home.

Always nice to read about someone who was well respected enough in theor community and occupation that people still think of them fondly decades after they're gone.

My friend Wim was from Holland. He came to Canada in 1959 and settled in Carcajou where he lived until the day he died.

I have never known a man who worked harder, or who was as fair and honest.
Men like your dad and my friend Wim played a huge part in making this the country that it is.
