Side By Side With Tracks
Just bought a new Can-am 1000 XT running apache tracks. With all the heavy snow this year there is a lot of flood water on the lakes. Just curious what the limitations are and WTF do you do if you get stuck on the middle of the lake with a heavy unit like this?

A tracked side by side might be the the very best vehicle for conditions like these. One of our friends uses one quite a bit for ice fishing and been on a few trips with the machine ..... I was amazed at what it could do and what it would handle.

I have tracks on my Rhino and I will sink maybe 2 inches in the snow. I have had more than one experience where I have stepped off my Rhino and I am in 2 or 3 feet of snow.
If you do get stuck on a lake, you have 90% of gear to get yourself out of any situation. I am sure you got a winch on the front, drill a hole with your ice auger (not all the way though), drop a post in and start winching. Infinite number of anchor points to winch too. If you don't have a post, walk to the shore and get a log. |
