.25-06 Berger bullets & loads

I've been reloading X-Bullets,Accu-Bonds & Partions with great results but wanted to try the Bergers. What loads are working for you? What do you recommend?

What is the twist rate of your barrel? Many are 1 in 10", and Berger recommends a 1 in 9" twist for their 115gr bullet.

All Berger lists is a 115grain bullet.:scared:
Since my 25-06 is a final 1 in 11.5" twist tube I'll never run those pills.

Why no love for a Sierra, or a Ballistic Tip?

What's the intended use OP?

Berger Bullets in 25-06

That is what I thought my twist rate won't work with them. Thanks guys.

My rifle is a custom barrel.
If you've got a factory tube(1 in 10) you'll be fine with the Berger's.

I'm not tringy to dissuade you from trying them, but I don't see why if you plan on hunting with them since a Barnes or Nosler Partition is about as made to order as it comes for the 25-06.....
At least that's where I sit after harvesting 3 moose, 1 elk, and a dozen or so deer, 1 antelope, and dozens of coyotes with my 25-06 with either Partition's or TSX's for the big game, and V-Max's and Ballistic Tips for the coyotes. I did use an 85 grain NBT on the antelope.:sHa_shakeshout:

I would try them anyhow at a 1-10twist the Berger twist calculator is saying marginal results with a loss of 4% of the bc. Only one way to know for sure is to shoot them. I seen chachinga is making a 140 gr .257 bullet, that would be interesting but I bet it won’t be very accurate with out a special twist rate. Swift also makes the scirocco 2 in 100gr.

If you are going to try them, then try them in cold weather, at longer range.

Shoot them out of my browning abolt. 51.5 imr 4831 seems to work good for me.

They shot really nice in my Tikka, but they don't open up unless you hit bone. Shot a deer double lung and it went a good half mile before it piled up. When I opened it up, the bullet went in between the ribs, and there was just a pinhole on both sides of both lungs. Hit a rib on the way out but that was too late. Had a similar problem on another deer too.

They're awesome paper punchers but I won't use them again for hunting.

I run the 115 Bergers out of my 25-06AI. Load them up with H1000 at 3350 fps out of a 26" Krieger. Very accurate and devastating results on deer.
