On line gun shopping

I ve been thinking of picking up a yildiz shotgun ,but so far only found them at Sail sporting goods down east . They say free shipping anywhere in Canada .
I only see one draw back .. Its all about fit when it comes to shot guns .

Does anyone know of a closer dealer ?

I have seen some at Prophet River, but they are importers of Huglu, so that is the line of lower priced shotguns that they stock in volume.

I just found out the Yildiz manufacturing company boarders Russia .
Even tho they are not in the war ,they are finding it had to get workers in because of whats going on .This might explain why prophet river has not had any in a few years .
The other sporting good store in Red deer closed its store last year .

That is possible, but being a direct importer of Huglu is likely more of a factor. They can offer better prices on Huglu, so they order hundreds at a time, and they sell well.

Thanks, maybe i will do a trip to prophet and have a look at the huglu .
Just looking for a nice grouse hunting gun .

Huglu is a good shotgun for the price. They make the CZ O/U and SxS shotguns.

Do you think if you couldn’t hit the grouse with a 22 you will be able to hit her with 100 pellets? :sHa_sarcasticlol: :sHa_shakeshout:

Stop at the Swamp Donkeys, he had the Kraul shotguns out on his customer appreciation shoot last weekend and the over under was awesome!

I'd say if you can drop into Prophet you can probably find something that'll suit you, he has a pretty reasonable selection of stuff there. Not sure what happened with Yildiz, seem to have dropped off the map, seldom see them mentioned anymore. Certainly no shortage of Turkish brands or guns other major brand names around, how well they work is another question, Turks have filled in where the Spanish and Russian stuff left off.

I gave prophet a shout ,and they said they could order me in a yildiz !
I was hopping they had a few different models in so i could see how they fit me, and see how well they are built . Never had one in my hands yet so decided not to order one. Might have to do a road trip one day and see what they have.

Be careful dealing with him , never pay in advance to order a firearm, because you may not get what you paid for, and there will be no exchange or refund. I have experienced this first hand,, and know of several other instances of this.

As I posted i will not be ordering a shot gun ,as fit is every think when it comes to shot guns. I am not into to skeet shooting ether so having one fitted after buying one is not what i am after ,but more of a field gun for that odd day out . My first post was looking for a dealer that had yildiz in stock just so i could see how they fit .So far no dealers in Alberta that stock them , so might go looking for other O&U brands . The only gun i found at cabelas that comes up nice is the 555 . But they sure give me that check slap when i tried one . But i think that is me more not using one correctly . I might be wrong on this ,maybe it was just the wrong fit .

Just trying to save anyone that reads the post that I quoted the frustration that myself and many others had to endure.

So true ,Thanks for you input .
Shotguns have to be the hardest things to buy from all other guns when you know what you should be looking for .
When at the gun counter i see so many people buying because they have a sale on a shot gun or they just like the look of a gun .
I only know maybe one or two things how a shotgun should fit and that might not be enough .
I first went into cabals to buy a Browning O&U and it just does not fit me like the older models do from the 80s . I just wish the older models could shot steel and had changeable chokes .

My first Browning O/U was a 1980s Citori, which fit perfectly, but yes, recent 725s fit differently. While the semi autos fit the same as before, the 725s have less drop at comb. The Citori CX still fits like the older models, but the best solution if you really want a Citori that fits like the older models, but has interchangeable chokes, is to find a used 625, or 525.

I almost jumped on the nice 525 in town post or gun post but i waited to long and it was gone ,it was a grade 3 , so was kind of too nice to bring in the field .
I wish they still built them .Not sure if you can even get a firing pins for them .
I heard the older brownings you can not either from the 80s

Things like firing ins can be easily made.
How nice a rifle or shotgun is has nothing to do with whether or not I will hunt with it!
This is my min bird gun of many years, 1878 Westley Richards.

My 28 gauge SxS is very fancy, beautiful wood and hand engraved, I enjoy hunting with it, I don't worry that it might get a handling mark.

Exactly, I don't buy fancy guns to look at them!:sHa_shakeshout:
My W.R. is about the ONLY shotgun I would not part with unless a certain butcher decided to trade a certain Fausti Dea for it, which I doubt very much will happen! LOL
