Non iodized salt
 

Anyone know where I can find a bag of salt? For curing bait.

Try looking at shops like Bulk Barn or other businesses that sell bulk spices and such.

Get a bag of pickling salt at any major grocery store. Pickling salt is non-iodized and has no anti-caking agents, just straight sodium chloride.

I’m looking for a 25# bag of salt. I know it’s available for much less than from the Bulk Barn. Did find the pickling sea salt but that was in a small 400 gram box.

I found some at the local co-op store the farm part
It was a way cheaper than bulk barn
I used it for tanning beaver hide and a deer hide
I thnk it was about a 25lb bag for about $15.00

Does it need to be non iodized?

Pickling salt. You'll find it in the baking aisle or the canning aisle.

Borax works well if not better than salt. Borax seems to keep bait fresher while salt seems to shrivel the minnows up. My nephew used to keep his roe in Borax in the deep freezer it worked really well and they stayed fresh a long time.
