Taxidermist looking for fur

I'm a taxidermist (with a trappers licence) and I am wondering if there are any trappers around the Calgary area that I can buy a few (skinned / whole) animals from. I'm interested in purchasing foxes, lynx, martins, mink etc.

You need a class 1 fur dealers licence to buy fur in any form unless it's tanned, in Alberta.no biggie, a $100 bill, some silly inspection and you're set. The key to passing inspection is to have a premises that the govt is allowed to access without a warrant, so no dwellings/attached garages, undoubtably just like your taxidermy licence. (There is such?)

Beware people, research your intentions from the laws standpoint before posting it on the internet, Alberta government officers comb these threads daily.

Just came out of the bush in NW Ontario. A trapper there told me the law has changed and a trapper can sell whatever he catches.

My point is that Ontario apparently has changed their rules to allow trappers to sell their fur to whoever they want. Makes sense - no?

My understanding was that with a trappers licence I'm able to buy raw furs / whole animals from other trappers. Is this not the case?

No, you will need a fur buyers license to buy green fur or carcass animals. If you have a taxidermist licence they should sell you a buyers license with no issues.

I feel as though this should have been covered in Taxi 101.
