Is that broke off?

bowzonebucks 12-17-2015 08:39 PM

It has shed as the bottom has that porous sandpaper feel to it, but the one corner is pretty sharp so I'm thinking something must have jarred it loose

:D That appears broke off, seen some that actually had skull attached to it, bigger bucks can be mean...lol

Walk into a place, saw a gut pile of big deer first, then find this shed, my heart sunk immidiately. I was late.

Took my dog out training. On the third toss, we both couldn't find the shed back. I was thinking this is a weird trip, minus one score.

Saw a pack of 5 yote, haven't seen 5 packed before, some big ones at least. To avoid my dog get into trouble, we turned from planned route. Then at a unexpected place, found this, have tooth marks on the tips, so has been relocated some how. The other was from last year some area, do you think they are related?

Many sheds I've found look as if their broke off..their not.just the way an individual deer sheds em.

Had my best Christmas break ever for sheds up north. Found 3 moose and 5 WT. The deer were in the swamps where the caribou should have been. The lack of snow made for rough sledding but easy walking and spotting antlers.

deerguy 01-05-2016 08:07 PM

Was in the Caroline area, no sheds, went for a walk down some trails.

I'd say Mid Febuary on average....my dads got a couple 180" typ Bucks spotted in the same herd...checks them every few days and they are still packing as of this morning.

Me too...he keeps a close eye on them and the doe's they are with. There is also a nice 5x6,155" whitetail in the same area too however as you could imagine he don't show himself too often unlike the muledeer bucks.

Smokinyotes 01-10-2016 10:24 PM

Found a small 5 point shed on the driveway the other day. Looks like its time to start looking a little harder.

Brock1 01-11-2016 09:40 AM

was out for late season cow elk hunt on the weekend up in High Prairie area .

saw several bachelor herds packing and saw several groups of bucks with does, all packing.

and we did get our elk!

150fighter 01-11-2016 01:28 PM

Cant wait for end of February to get out there for mulie sheds! Hope the weather for the next 2 months are mild. Wont be going out there if the deer are struggling to survive.. sheds can wait until spring melt if that's the case.

ab_hunter 01-11-2016 02:20 PM

Has anyone had any luck finding whitetail sheds in heavy bush that isn't near any fields? Any tips?

Seen many bucks in wmu 248 still sporting headgear as of this weekend.

huntinalberta 01-12-2016 12:13 PM

I think the bush deer normaly shed fairly early but don't take my word for it

Yes in general, moose first, then whitetails, then mulies and then elk.

HuntinGuy 01-19-2016 02:44 PM
