Baiting mink

Do mink like tainted muskrat? I tainted a muskrat carcas that I had from last season. Once it smelled I froze it chopped into 1/3s. I just placed the muskrat in some pockets by my river just to pre bait. There what looks to be mink tracks around but not going into eat on the tainted rat in the hole. Should I use fish or fresh rat? I am not trapping I am just pre baiting to ensure I have mink then once in prime place out the traps. Any help would be great. Here is another pic of the tracks

I am under the impression that these are mink tracks. Although I am far from an expert on mink.

Thanks

can never say never. but fresh is better for mink, all most, all the time. those are mink tracks.

can't wait to get going myself. just began fleshing/stretching beavers and rats from the spring.

keep the posts/pics coming.

I concur with braggadoe on mink tracks and definitely fresh bait for mink at all times for best results.

Thanks a lot I will go and fix the bait holes. I dug the holes now so I could find out if there were mink and #2 the bank is frozen it won't be easy to bore a hole. Do you use boxed or dig a hole. I will post pics later.

I use boxes with a restricted entrance hole but a natural hole dug into the bank is probably.http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/t...009/001-10.jpg

sure enjoyed meeting you the othernight tom. wish i wasn't always in such a hurry. i'll be sure to stop in next time i go by.

i like a grass "doughnut" in the entrance of the cubbies. the wooden coni pans shine with mink sets foresure.

Tainted meat will kill a mink, or at least make them very sick. Mink ranchers ensure they feed their mink very fresh meat.
