104 antlerless elk
 

Any advice from people that of hunted this WMU, a little concerned about access due to the extreme fire hazard, certainly do not want to endanger any other hunters, locals or live stock. I don't imagine the Milk has much flow this time of the year.

Actually the milk is flowing at about 2/3 of normal flow rite now and at least till end of the month. Access in 104 most likely will be very limited unless we have a huge amount of rain. I certainly would only want a tag for the last season as most likely will have snow by then.

I've had several tags and unless you actually live out there, it's REALLY tuff. the elk live almost exclusively on the Montana side and only come to Canada on the odd occasion.

I live about 30 miles away and have had land owners call me when the elk are down, only to be about 5 minutes late in getting there (others get calls too)

I won't even apply for a tag there anymore, and thought there are usually some unsubscribed tags available, I won't waste my time.

I used my draw in 104 for bull elk a few years ago and was unsuccessful. It's a tough hunt. In the very slight chance they will be their but its highly unlikely. No time in the field is wasted but I personally would never go down their again unless I received some help from a land owner, which even then is not a guarantee.
