Cataract Surgery - Shooting
Any experience with shooting related restrictions recommended by the surgeon?
|
2 weeks before shooting was all I was told. Shot 7mm-08 at 2-week mark, no problem. Sure helps to be able to see the target clearly now.

In my case, light duty for two weeks, avoid any jarring or impact. It took almost two weeks for my vision to stabilize after the surgery.

Both eyes done at the same time? Did you ask about “goggles’?

One eye at a time for me.

Had my right eye done last Fall ,no bending at the waist to pick up items ,nothing heavy for two weeks ,no shooting anything with recoil for a month to make sure the implanted lens stayed in place and eye was fully healed.
3 to 6 month wait for other eye. My left one is also affected but no where near as bad ,get yearly exam to monitor. I couldn't believe the difference after the patch removal the next day,a person doesn't really notice the loss over a long period of time till it gets to a certain point, which for me was seeing two cross hairs in my scopes in 2017. Doc mentioned I may need 1.5 x cheap reading glasses after having both eyes repaired for small print. |
Thanks all for the info ...gives me an idea regarding things I need to ask about.

Generally the eye heals fast. 1 week after the wind shield is off, shouldn't be a problem to shoot. The picture might be a bit fuzzy for a couple of weeks though.

Had both eyes done at the same time by laser.
I was told to be careful for a few days about knocks and bumps to the head but I drove home the day after the surgery, 7 hr drive. Excellent vision. A bit sun sensitive for a few weeks, I wore sunglasses. |
