Favourite game bullet in the 7MM magnums?

Those of you running 7mm magnums of any flavour to hunt with. What is your favourite bullet and weight?

I flip flop every few years between the partition and accubond.

I really like the 160gr accubond in my 7mm mag. Very accurate and has always performed on game.

elkhunter11 07-02-2019 08:13 PM

140gr TTSX, although my current 7mmstw prefers the 150gr TTSX.

Another vote for 160gr accubonds for my 7mmRM.

175 Nosler partition in 7MM Remington magnum

MOUNTAIN MICKEY 07-02-2019 08:40 PM

I have been using 175 gr Speer Grand Slams for the last 47 years. Aint about to change.

DiabeticKripple 07-02-2019 08:42 PM

Mine likes the 120gr TTSX. Nice velocity and flat shooting. Deer sized game.

Thinking I need a load for moose, 160gr Accubond or partition might get the nod.

160 NP has been my go to for years. Testing some 162 eldx over the summer based on how the 143's shot in my CM.

Twisted Canuck 07-02-2019 10:40 PM

150 gr TTSX seem to be good medicine, they group better than 160s with my 7 rm.

stob 07-03-2019 07:39 AM

140gr ttsx ... 150gr not... 160gr deep curls ...175gr np

The Hornady 162 ELD-X. 7 RM and 7 WSM. The accuracy is superb and everything dies.

Your 120gr TTSX load would do fine on moose.

My old Rem 700 ( you know it's a lefty, Chuck) loves the old Nosler solid base 162 gr but sadly these have not been available forever and I am down to my last box...
It shoots the 160 AB very well. Both have been deadly on larger game.

A more fragile bullet may give faster kills on deer size or smaller game.

I have not tried Barnes in this caliber but would expect 140 TTSX to be outstanding.

Warrior 07-03-2019 01:42 PM

What about the Hornady 139 GMX? Anyone tried them?

I really like the 160gr Federal Trophy Tip. However Accubond has always been in a tie.

140 TTSX shot very well and has accounted for several Elk and Deer in 280AI, 7X61 Sharpe and Hart ; 7MM Rem Mag and 7MM Weatherby Mags I owned. Penetration, accuracy and terminal performance were outstanding.

Kurt505 07-06-2019 11:09 AM

I just recently purchased my first 7mm magnum so I don’t have any expirience with magnums.

My experience has been with 280’s both rem and ai’s. The 140gr Barnes ttsx bullets performed good out to about 350yds then started to turn into pencil pokers. On deer out to 500yds the ballistic silvertips were absolute poison, I’ve only shot one elk with them and 2 moose and ithey had the same effect. Most of my bigger game like moose and elk I used either 140gr accubonds or 150gr long range accubonds.

Having a bit more powder capacity with the magnums I’d imagine the performance range of the ttsx would stretch out another 100yds or so. I’ve got some Berger 168gr Hunting VLD bullets I’m hoping will prove to be killers because they sure are good at paper punching.

Huntnut 07-06-2019 11:28 AM

My 7wsm loves 140 accubonds and my 7 rem mag loves 140 ttsx
