Deer down can I go back to that spot
Hey guys
Brother got a doe opening day in one of our honey holes. Just wondering if 5 days later it would still produce? Or should I wait longer? I know deer elk and moose frequent the spot as it’s on there routes. So what do you think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
id go back in.

If it was me, I'd still hunt the area.
|
We took one in the morning on the edge of a field and they were back that night sniffing where the gut pile was before the coyotes ate it,
|
I would go back in!
We have shot deer the day after we got one in our honey hole. |
Defintely go back. I've seen a small group of deer in one of our honey holes stick around after one of their buddies was dropped on the spot.

I left the gutpile and bones of two quartered out deer under a trail cam. The magpies, ravens, an eagle and 3 coyotes were busy for 21 hours before the 2 deers worth of guts and bones was completely clear of the area. 2 hours after the fighting of the clean up animals left, Deer walked through paying no attention to the bloody grass. Elk came through 2 days later and didn't pay any attention.
The year before in the exact same spot, i left a single deer kill gutpile and it was cleaned up in 8 hours completely by magpies and ravens. Deer were there that evening same day. Paid no attention to the blood soaked grass. |
Definitely go back if it's a good area. Those animals see and smell death on a daily basis.

Animals don't fear death like we do. I've had deer and moose sleeping less than 20 yds from my coyote bait (trapping), you'd think they would avoid the area, but no. |
Go back and have success after all it's a honey hole!
|
It should be find. I've bumped deer, cut down trees, cleared bush, in an area and had them walk through pretty soon afterward. As long as they don't smell people, or dogs, they are usually good.

You’ll be fine there. I’ve had multiple occasions where deer came through an area shortly after I disturbed it including hanging a tree stand and camera with the “help” of my 11 and 3 year old kids. Had a whitetail on that camera under the stand that same night.

That is the G-spot. If I were you, I will focus more on that same spot You are much more likely to find deer more in the same spot.
