Hypocrites Among Us!!!

"Fresh on the heels of a new U.S. oil production record and establishment of the U.S. as the world’s top liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter."

SOOOO for the Biden Administration on one hand to be hammering on the Consumer to "go green" and only drive Electric Vehicles, and for the Biden Administration to become a World Leader in Oil and LNG Export which will
only be burned somewhere else in the World...

Perhaps the Federal Government of Canada will finally realize that the Environmental Protestors, largely funded by US interests, and the US Government, is really a bunch of Hypocrites on the Climate Change file.

The good old USA is relying on Fossil Fuel Exports to create Jobs and Gross Domestic Product for their people. Maybe its time that the Government of Canada think about the prosperity of Canadians for a change, like the USA is doing, and promote the Oil Industry.

I know you are far too intelligent to be shocked, or even mildly surprised, by this.

Our politicians don't care about the environment any more than they care about you or me. They are selling out Canadian interests to foreign interests who will benefit from our loss.
Ottawa is above all the laws. You think RCMP are going to investigate MPs or PM?
All this destroying Alberta doesn't affect liberal MPs in the least because we dont vote for them or send them political protection money.
Years ago this was why a lot in Maritimers voted for whoever they thought was going to win federally. For protection. Eastern companies would actually donate money to not only who they thought would win but also to whoever they thought might come in second place. They did this not because they supported either one. They did this like how you would pay off a mafia hundred years ago in protection racket.
I dont think a lot of people realize how crooked everything was in eastern Canada years ago and probably the same to this day. Years ago I bought a job plowing snow for dept of highways in nova Scotia. Was great job until liberals won the next provincial election and next day we were all fired and replaced with liberals who I'm sure bought their jobs as well.
I could go on forever with examples. Its wrong but this is how government works everywhere. It just seems to be worse in east.

Actually Oil tragedy is Alberta's. We had 3rd largest oil reserves in world and we especially our provincial governments "****ed it All away":bad_boys_20:

Bingo ,it's all about lining certain people's pockets, the environment is just an excuse to cover up what is really going on.

Usually opposite of the truth

Guys, since I spent most of my professional career in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industry in Alberta, I have fair idea what went on by our incompetent governments in Alberta. PS How does our Bank account look compared to Norway?:bad_boys_20:

Ah the Norwegian comparison!

Norway is a sovereign country with ocean access.
Alberta is a single province in a dominion, land locked and influenced heavily by a national government, who on numerous occasions hindered and limited Alberta’s opportunities.

But I know you’ll pull the cbc guide or the NDP talking points on what ever you feel is correct.

It would’ve looked great if we didn’t pay billions to the transfer…. And didn’t have to obey the stupidity of the liberal federal government. How is that for comparison? :sHa_sarcasticlol:

Does Norway have a Quebec?

For being in the O&G sector so long you have bandied out a rather lame-duck of an argument; but definitely a favourite of the NDP and its minions.

We had an Alberta Heritage Trust fund That was in the Billions a few years ago.

Do you really think we will ever get our oil industry back like before?
Brazil and other places have huge oil reserve's. Doesn't mean its worth anything.
If you were an American oil company why come back to Canada when you could go off the coast of Guyana and not have to worry about woke government, environment, pipelines, etc.
My farm has black lightweight field stones that is actually oil. Look like plastic but burn if I put torch to them. But I won't be a Jed Clampit. Hard to get rigs back. So many companies bankrupt now. How much equipment sold off by Richie Brothers?

More than a hoax, it’s a cult.

as much as I dislike the turd there may be other reasons that he refused to sell LNG to Europe and other markets. think Avro Arrow. sometimes those decisions are made in rooms in foreign countries, with far reaching side effects. all the turd can do is nod his head.

Drewski Canuck 03-26-2024 10:32 PM

The LNG to Europe plan hinged on available natural gas, locally.

There was some off of Sable Island at Nova Scotia but that has largely been recovered. There is little other gas on the East Coast.

There WAS a pipeline that could have carried gas through Quebec, but it was Alberta gas and the line was being shut down due to maintenance and upgrade issues.

It was proposed to sell Oil to the Irving Refineries through this existing pipeline after upgrade as that would make economic sense. The gas tolling charges were not viable, because of the distance.

But the Mayor of Montreal was not having a "dirty oil" pipeline in his City, and that was the end of the good will.

The gas line has been abandoned, and reclaimed. The East can freeze in the dark for all their good will to Alberta on buying Canadian Oil as opposed to buying Saudi oil and shipping it across the Atlantic.

It's all about control.

Strait Shooter 03-28-2024 11:55 AM

Heard this reported on the radio yesterday, the Port of Vancouver currently sees about 30 to 50 crude oil tankers per year, with the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project, this number could increase to about 400-600 tankers per year. That's a huge increase in flow.

Driving back from Vancouver yesterday saw $2.00/L gas prices for the first time ever. Oil is around $80 barrel right now, yet the price per litre is being pushed up every summer, and it ain't all taxes.

oilngas 03-28-2024 12:13 PM

CDrewski; a small correction; Quebec does have natural gas and shale oil in amounts unknown to me. In late 70's or early 80's ?? Beta Well Service c/w other service providers did complete and Frac a shale deposit in the Gaspe region. 100% anecdotal but Nat. Gas and Heavy Oil were produced. Again ancient history and likely irrelevant!

Operating costs have gone up dramatically, hence the increase in fuel prices. Feedstock is only one of the expenses in operating a facility.
Wouldn't even want to guess how much the big refineries are paying in carbon tax keeping those heaters running.
We are only running 200m3/day and I've seen the carbon tax bill to keep those heaters firing

Not sure about Anticosti - there were a couple of wells drilled there as I recall and they came up dust.
There is however a pretty big basin in the middle of the Gulf of St. Lawrence called the Old Harry prospect - it was estimated to hold a significant amount of O&G. However Corridor (Now Headwaters (HWX)) could not get a permit to drill as it overlaps four provincial boundaries. Quebec blocked them in 1999 and NB and PEI kicked up all kinds of dust aided and abetted by all of the usual suspects...

What there is in the East is about 80Ts proven/probable of natural gas on shore in New Brunswick. Sadly the anti-fraccers raised such a noise about it that it got blocked. It would seem that government in NB would rather receive equalisation than actually produce any wealth themselves
