We are in the south if France and my daughter caught her first fish

Looks like an introduced species. Almost tropical of some sort, just my 2 cents.

looks like an Annular sea bream

Either way SRD should be informed if it was caught in Alberta waters.

I am assuming saltwater.

It is a spotted rose snapper.

Very good eating, even if it is small.

Looks like some kind of snapper, but I am definitely no expert. Whatever it is, it looks good and tasty. Wish I could be catching something like this in Alberta.

I would guess a type of bream too.

Agree that this is some type of Snapper. Caught a handful of Mutton Snapper in Cancun and looks a lot like this photo.

Maybe try posting on France Outdoors Forum, where they might actually know what kind of fish it is?
