Looks like an introduced species. Almost tropical of some sort, just my 2 cents.

Vermin 09-07-2017 10:51 AM

looks like an Annular sea bream

Either way SRD should be informed if it was caught in Alberta waters.

I am assuming saltwater.

It is a spotted rose snapper.

Very good eating, even if it is small.

Definitely a reef fish of some sort, enjoy your Vaycay.

Looks like some kind of snapper, but I am definitely no expert. Whatever it is, it looks good and tasty. Wish I could be catching something like this in Alberta.

Enjoy the vacation! France is alright for the most part.

Red Bullets 09-08-2017 11:48 AM

I would guess a type of bream too.

Agree that this is some type of Snapper. Caught a handful of Mutton Snapper in Cancun and looks a lot like this photo.

j27lee 09-08-2017 09:06 PM

looks like a saddled bream

Isopod 09-12-2017 03:26 AM

Maybe try posting on France Outdoors Forum, where they might actually know what kind of fish it is?

Talking moose 09-12-2017 04:06 AM

Googled saddled bream and this came up.

That's a beautiful fish, I'll bet your daughter was thrilled! Did you let it back or cook it?

PS: Nice photo
