What’s everyone use for road hunting truck?
What’s everyone use for daily driver and hunting truck? I also go quading and camping in summer, I’m too indecisive on my next truck, I used to have a 2011 Ford F-150 fx4 but the box was too small and have the big center console with bucket seats was a pain to store the gun, I been to some dealers, I like the Toyota Toyota Tacoma for reliability and all the aftermarket options but I’m not sure if that would be to small or not and cannot get it with a bench seat? The base model Ford F-150 the XLT can have full 4 doors and 6’5 box with bench seat but I’m always thinking about the reliability, been to Gmc the can almost accomplish everything except having the full 4 doors with the 6’5 box. Let me know some opinions thanks in advance!

I have a 14 1500 Laramie and the center console lifts up for a full bench

Buy a Chevy in the most basic unit you can find.I don't need or want all the bells and whistles in a hunting truck. I have one in club cab 6.5 box.
Front bench seat, its an awesome truck. |
Preferably a truck with very large mirrors

Make sure you get the factory leather pool noodles and power windows.

My hunting/work truck is a 2001 extended cab F150. My daily driver is a 2018 Crew Cab F150. Try to keep one nice and clean and the other is a work truck so it’s ok if it gets a bit muddy or bloody. Plus the roads I drive are narrow and full of brush so it scratches the sides of my truck. Don’t care to scratch my new truck up.

Gotta say never thought of revolving my next truck purchase around how well she road hunts. My hat's off OP, you sir are a specialist. |

Heated and cooled seats are a must for the inclement weather of the cab of the truck you don’t want to be heat or cold fatigued as your shooting that trophy hybrid doe off the transatlalta road with a line up of 6 trucks behind you. |

GMC and Chevy do offer crew cabs with 6.5 boxes in their 1500 models, less common but they are out there. 5.5ft box trucks arent trucks theyre grocery getters. |
No one “road hunts” here... you must be new.

The ones with an Oilers sticker and a snorkel kit seem to be pretty popular.

2007 Duramax. Can come to full draw out my window to fill all my mule doe tags.

With the cost of fuel road hunting is too expensive no way am I getting into buying a truck geared towards it.
Road hunting is a rich mans hunt I am too poor for that |
Very little road hunting opportunity now in Alberta. The origional 24/7 night hunters and now 2nd special bunch shoot most game off any logging, oilfield roads and open fields.

But honestly I don’t mind a mid day road hunt to warm up between those really cold sits hunting Whitetail. If a guy wants to do it all season and he enjoys it have at it it’s their hunt to enjoy It’s definitely not cheap these days |

This thread has me dying lolololol
I’m surprised nobody mentioned a big sunroof. Screw shooting out the window; you can setup a mobile roof blind and shoot in every direction. Also another couple of good features are the James Bond switching license plate and oil slick release to lose any “problems” that follow you around. |

Some comments are quite funny, but I wouldn't take it personally. I would go with a Toyota Tacoma with 4 doors and a 6ft box, as both your daily and hunting truck. It can get you to some good trail heads with confidence. With the money you save on gas you can buy a nice pair of boots to access the better hunting spots. :) Welcome to the Outdoorsmen Forum |
I use my f 350 if I have someone with me, if I'm myself I like my tacoma. It can get a lot of places where a full size can't.
