Lornce 02-28-2020 09:03 AM

Awesome Job! Really clean flies!

kilgoretrout 03-01-2020 04:51 PM

Before or after

Prefer before myself as it sucks to have one break while pinching it down just after the flies been completed ...... great patterns

I file them, no risk of breaking the hook

I only fish stocked ponds so I keep what I catch. Removing barbs in this case is a moot point.

Awesome ties! I haven't done many dries yet so pretty envious of the skills. I'm inspired. :)

Nice work Lornce,
Been tying a few Wolff’s lately.
Are you using tail or calf fur on your wings for coachmen’s?
Where’s a guy get his hands on calf fur ?

I usually use either calf tail or body hair on traditional flies, both work nicely. Body hair is easier to work with as it is straight. Its what I use for tying demos when I ran tying classes. Access calf in online shops like Waspi or Feathercraft or better still your local fly shop. synthetics are another option. Originally bought a calf hide when I did high volume. Hope this helps.

Might as well

Wow, those are beautiful flies. I wish you were my fishing partner.

Very nice work right there. I debarb first also as I find it easier for slipping a bead head on. Tied a few dozen big number 2 black stones for the Crow anticipating June.
Great winter past time.
