Draw WMU choice question?

Example:
When applying for a draw and you have 3 WMU choices.
#1 WMU 200
#2 WMU 201
#3 WMU 202.
If you don't get drawn for choice 1 your name goes in the hat for choice 2 etc...
How do

James 1 06-21-2018 12:35 PM

How do they pick the draws? Numerically?

Yes.

So if you're draw choices are:
#1 202
#2 201
#3 200.
Do they start the drawing at 200?
Therefore you only really have one draw choice anyway?

They start with your first choice. If not drawn move to your second.......

I think all draws are done simultaneously,(its electronic) when all the highest priorities are drawn, the system will search those who chose that wmu as their second choice, the highest possible priorities go next, if for example, there are only 4 draws left in the wmu, but there are 6 applicants with the same highest priority, those 4 draws will be dealt out as a lottery to only 4 hunters.

It’s not like there’s a staff of people physically drawing names out of a drum.

Right. So by what you are saying, your second priority chances go down dramatically.

Your second zone could be a guarantee depending on draw odds.

So you are wondering is if you are applying WMU 200 and don't get drawn while your 2nd choice is 201 and someone who's 1st choice is 201 and has 4 points will get drawn over you? No I believe you will still get drawn.

No it's done simultaneously.
You are actually entered into all 3 unit draws and if you have enough priority let's say to draw in 2 or even all 3 of those units, you will get drawn for the higher choice on your list.

ie;if you are a p5,and 202 is your first choice, but you needed a p7 for 100% to draw there, and p6 has 25% success, obviously you are out of the running because p5's will be 0% drawn.
WMU 201 is your 2nd choice and say you need P6 for 100% and P5 is 30% success you MIGHT get drawn there....and let's say your 3rd choice WMU200 only needs p5 for 100% you will definitely get a tag there if all else fails, but if you are one of the 30% of p5's that got drawn for 201 then that's the tag you'll get because it was higher on your choices.

In other words...you are entered into all 3 unit draws and you will win the tag for the highest choice(1,2,or 3) that you are successful in.
Clear as mud?? 🤔

Yeah, I think I am getting my head wrapped around this. It has to be done "simultaneously" and with a computer system, that would have to bump a person with less priority , say out of your second choice. (If you didn't get drawn for your first choice)

Mmmm.....sorta?
You're really not "bumping" anybody, because again, you are actually entered into all 3 of your unit choices,so if you have enough priority to draw a tag in 2 or even all 3 units, you get the tag for the highest unit on your choice list.

You also have the option to opt out of the second and third choice. You can put in for your first choice only if your not really interested in hunting another area.
