Abondoned vehicles on private property
I have a motorcycle that was left in on my property 9yrs ago. I have attempted to contact the owner a few yrs back. Anyone know or recommend the paper work or link to being able to sell it or dispose of it legally?

I believe you can contact the registry office and claim it as abandoned. Once done you can do with as you wish.

Check the VIN against CPIC and see if its reported stolen first. Maybe worth the effort.

Yes
Same deal here, own some rural property, friends ask to store for a bit, turns into years, lose touch and they are gone. Have a car, a boat and a one ton ! Time for them to go to the scrappers I think.

Please confirm that it is not stolen first

It’s not just that easy in Alberta. It happens to auto repair shops all the time you have to go through a sheriff to legally obtain possetion of an abandoned vehicle.

This explains a bit, there is a lot of information out there, PDFs ext, if you can decifer them. I googled ( alberta law abandoned vehicles ) and ( abandoned items alberta law ) Tons of reading, enough to make my head hurt. I need to go fishing,, by all. |
Or if you just want to get rid of it push it out onto the street. Plates expired bylaw will take care of it. If anyone ask’s you thought they finally came and got it when you were not home

Best and easiest thing is to push it out on the street like was already said. done deal simple.

If it's a cruiser, I would be interested in restoring it. I like older bikes.
Not anteques, or classics, just bikes close to my age. If someone saw you push it onto the street/public property, it could wind up costing you more then a new bike. |

Any details on that boat? :sHa_shakeshout: |
Remember met vehicles can be reported stollen after the fact. Yes you can probably talk your way out of the theft charges but what a hassle. I knew some one who bought one fixed it up registered and insured. Then later had knock on door due to car was now reported stollen. No bill of sale from original owner or I should say last registered owner. Bill of sale from guy who stored it did not hold up in court. Had to give car back. Law is a funny thing. Not nessaserly logical.

Just push it out at night. It gets taged and towed. Last registrants gets notice. If he ask you play dumb tell him you thought he came and got it when you were not home. Must of been kids try to steel it. Boat just go park it at a boat launch problem solved Play stupid again. You don’t Owe them any favours or explanation. You can’t explain what you do not know
