New to AB, looking for suggestions!

Hi All!

I am new to Alberta and am having a hard time finding cabins/cottages for rent that also have boat rentals. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am currently living in Edmonton and am willing to travel upwards of 5 hours in any direction. I've been searching the inet for a while now and even poked around at the sportsman show last weekend with little success. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

JB

You won't find much of that available in these parts like in other areas of the country. I'm sure you will find a spot or two, I don't know of any myself, but best to consider buying a good tent and a nice little boat of your own in my opinion if you want to fish with any regularity. Otherwise, lots of rivers to explore from shore! Good luck!

Christina Lake might be an option? I would look in the Lac la Biche area.

Pine Lake (2 hours from Edmonton) used to rent small aluminum boats with 10 hp motors. Not sure if they still do, I haven't rented from them in probably 10 or 15 years. They have cabin rentals, but at 2 hours away you can make it a day trip too.

You might want to look into rentals in Meadow Lake Provincial Park in Saskatchewan, certainly within your 5 hour radius, and with all the lakes in Saskatchewan the fishing might be better than in Alberta (flame me in 1, 2, 3...)

Prince Albert National Park in Saskatchewan would be another option, but that's probably more like 7 hours.

I'm from Meadow Lake originally and certainly agree with the better fishing comment. That said, Canadian Resident licenses went up a fair bit this year so keep that in mind. It's now $75 for a year. Still not bad if you go there regularly like I do, but good to know.
