A couple new sheds. The second drop... should be a shooter this fall.

Old twin tine..

And then there is... (going to do a measurement. I actually think this deer might be past it's prime.)

Red, that has to be one of the neatest sheds I have seen

husky7mm 03-23-2019 09:30 PM

Wow Red, is that every neat, did you know that buck was around? Looks like its from last yr?

Nope. Never saw the buck that was connected to the antler . I know the genetics in the area produce some good animals. Have taken and seen other non typicals in the area.

I should also clarify, I did not say I found these two antlers. A close non hunting friend found them. He did not know the buck was in the area. He found the big non typical drop when he went for a walk and picnic in the bush last week. Private land we both have access to. We are going to go look for the other side next week. It looks like last years a bit but it is a fresh drop. I'll get some better pics of the button. It is huge.

All you need is a cape and a taxidermist. Does the left antler have one tine broken off?

This shoulder mount was done with a set of drops. Would have scored roughly 190 typ.

Red what is the base measurement on that thing ??? Crazy !! Ohhh I hope you find the other side

Beauty sheds, non typical has sat for at least a year , possibly 2 depending on bush cover. The twin tine also looks to have sat since last winter as well. No wax ring gives away freshies every time.

Just read response, yes a closeup of the bases will tell the story. Almost guarantee no ring. Could be wrong though, keep us posted .

Wow Red that shed is awesome!! You should post a couple more pictures of it!! Good luck finding the other side! Congrats on everyone's finds so far. I think am around 37 for the year so far.

Yeah unfortunately one of the tines is broken off where they split

Non typical shed

Awesome non typical shed. Have you measured it yet?

One found in the back yard.
Still young and dumb. I expect that to change next year.

First antler is a beauty.

Regarding the second antler... I know it is rare to see albino and piebald deer and even rarer to see the elusive flamboyant deer.

SHORTMAG 03-29-2019 12:24 PM

That's a wicked set of drops !!
Nice find.

How often do the "flamboyant deer" shed...:sHa_sarcasticlol:

Hunter_spec 04-02-2019 06:42 AM

Nice genetic on that one

I went out for the first time and I’ve found a nice non typical shed. He’s gonna be a beauty this year.

Not really my picture to be posting, I’ll message the OP and try and find out if it possibly could be the same deer.

Interesting. I can disclose roughly where it was found if you PM me the trail cam pics.

And just to clarify what some suspected. The way my friend described finding the drop lead me to think it was fresh. I had no reason to doubt him because I have shot deer with similar antler coloration. The button does reveal this antler is an old drop. Probably last years.

Wish his drops were found instead. :( :( Found in WMU 248 west of Devon. My guess is a cougar kill because the head is still attached to the spine. I think coyotes would have dismantled it more. Found the pluckings too.

Saw a decent whitey still packing both antlers last night just sw of calgary, know elk still sometimes carry this late but thought that was super late for a whitetail. Anyone else still see any deer carrying?
