MP sponsored petition against CBSA import ban

As listed on another forum

As most of us in the knife world know the latest "interpretation" of a prohibited weapon by CBSA has tossed the canadian knife market on its head. Even more worrying are the implications if other enforcement agencies adopt this interpretation.

Thankfully we have a glimmer of hope in the form of an e-petition sponsored by an MP in the house of commons.

This is just live as of the last hour. Please sign it and help show some pushback to this rediculous overreach by the CBSA!

As some of you know, I won't waste my time with those stupid media polls, and those useless petitions set up on private sites. But I do recognise the value and validity of an officially sanctioned Canadian House of Commons Petition.

Granted, officially sanctioned petitions don't hold much weight in parliament, as Members of Parliament are not bound to abide by them, but at least they're legitimate, and they are officially recognised.

This is more details on this petition, and the results so far ... https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/P...etition=e-1552

If you're a roper and one hand is caught in a dally, a knife that can be opened with the other hand may save your thumb and fingers. I've heard of people being killed with a butcher knife, but never a pocket knife of any sort. Hopefully the attorney, petition, and MP can successfully fight this.

Over 5,000 signatures already, and this House of Commons Petition is only 10 days old !!! :happy0034:

Keep it going ... https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/P...etition=e-1552

But Alberta is in a distant 3rd Place ... what's with that?!

No kidding.

Come on folks. It would go a long way if a significant count of the AO membership would sign! Who doesn't have a pocket knife?

It takes 2 minutes.

Guys, this is huge. This isn't just stopping switchblades or butterfly knives from entering this ban covers essentially every single folding blade being sold in
Canada right now. Please take the two minutes to fill in the petition. This isn't some meaningless petition, it's been put forth by a sitting Parliament Member.

Gladly signed.

Their interpretation is absolutely absurd.

Lots of good viewing on YouTube about how CBSA is overstepping their bounds

Signed. Even Canadian customs in the YEG airport couldn't give me a proper explanation of the new restrictions. Pretty sad. Every folding knife I own can be opened easily with one hand. And how about a fixed blade?!!!!!! Ridiculous.
