Am I being too demanding?
So the story I should this: I bought a 3-pack of Cabelas copperhead broadheads and decided to weigh them. The package says 100 grain so I assumed it would be just that. They were all different weights below 100. Decided to get another pack and same story. I called cabelas to ask if it's a bad batch and still waiting on an answer. My cheap eBay field points are closer to 100 grains than these.
Anyone else have any issues with their broadheads with the tolerances? |

Just weighed my Grim Reaper Razor Tips and they are about .2 -.6 grains out from each other. Doesn't seem to make a big difference when shooting them.

Nope, I think you are being diligent. If it was me, those would go back for a refund. My rule is +/- 5 grains total per complete arrow, so if the broadheads are outside of +/- 1 grain, they don’t meet the standard.
FYI that’s why store branded are cheaper than G5 strikers. All made the same but G5 pays for better QC on the ones with their name. This is pretty common with store branded items - arrows are another common one. |
Dissapointing from a QC standpoint,but.....in reality, probly wont make a fiddler's phart worth of difference in groupings or especially a real life hunting scenario and shots aimed at vitals within typical bowhunting range.
A 4-5grain difference is likely only about 1% total weight variance from one arrow/broadhead combo to another? Its not like were talking about 5grains variance of gunpowder in a handloaded cartidge here. If the difference in POI is even measurable,we might be talking about a 1/4" or less at 40 yards(?)......doubt if the deer is gonna notice. |
Most arrows I compile from the same components are within 2gr finished complete....the odd outlier will be 1-2gr outside that.
I try to component match..weight the inserts, fletched arrow, nocks and Bh or tips. Compile ones that combined match up to the same weight. LC |
Update!
Talked to customer service center in Winnipeg ( I think thats where they are) and they told me I can return them no problem by sending it back to them or they can give me a gift card that should cover a new pack of broadheads and I can keep the heads. I did go as far as asking if my two busted arrows were covered by the warranty and indeed they were, so now I am just waiting on a Cabelas card. Guess they are trying hard to have repeat customers.

If I picked apart my arrows, broad heads I would probably be disappointed too but group all two inches at 30 yards....critters are not going to know the difference if the 100gr broad head was over or under the advertised weight..freezer gets filled:sHa_shakeshout:...wouldn't loose any sleep over it.:)

My killzones are 109 gr a piece. Way off from the advertised 100.

But if you want tighter tolerances don't buy cabelas brand |
Just did up another 12 arrows they were all within 2 grains complete.

I used to go to extremes weight matching components to perfection until I finally realized it just doesn't make any difference .:)
