Bullet Flight path calculator? 7mm08
Hey guys,
this might be a very obvious question for some of you, I'm new to reloading and ballistics in general, and I'm curious if any of you know of a good bullet flight path calculator. I'm curious if there is a simple way to know how much different loads are going to drop over different distances with different ingredients (I know there will be variables) just looking for differences between different grains of a certain powder and weights of bullets. can someone point me in the right direction? thanks a lot. |
To have any accuracy, you need to chronograph each load in your rifle, so you have the correct velocity, and you also need the correct B.C. which is available on the manufacturers sites. Once you have that data JBM has free online trajectory calculators.

Yep, "different loads" must be first translated to respective muzzle velocities.
You must have muzzle velocities (along with other bullet and atmospheric data) to calculate the trajectory. Another approach would be to estimate the velocities using QuickLoad and have an approximate idea about their trajectory. |
Just type in BC calculator in your search bar there are lots, some are free, some are junk, some you pay for. Find a good reloading manual Speer, Nosler, Hornady etc. and do a bit of reading and looking at the back of the book and you will figure it out pretty quick.

Are you going to use this rifle for hunting or LR Shooting ? Just curious .

I have used a few online, never tested pass 400 Y but one of the other is too verify the bullet speed so you can enter the right info. The shoot shoot shoot, its so fun.

Kestrel 5700 elite with blue tooth. You can pair it with your I phone and build gun profiles within minutes. I’ve used mine with second shot hits out to 1580 yards. As others have already mentioned; you’ll need to know what the speed of your bullet is. I use a magnetospeed v3.
