Info on trappers building a cabin in kananaskis?
On my line 2700 in kananaskis I would like to build a new cabin in another area. I have talked to the locals that decide things like this I think? ,and all I get is negative feedback. I was wondering if anyone knows the actual rules on this and also rules on cutting new trails using 4 wheelers in a non motorized vehical area. I am an active trapper from December to middle of Febuary, not just someone having their own rec spot. Any one with any info would be greatly appreciated.

You are going to have to consult with your local F&W people, being as they are the one who RENEW your license. There might be circumstances involved that they may not have the answers to right off the top so let them find clarification for you and then you will not have any static at a later date. Who are these "locals that decide things". F&W are the ones with jurisdiction over what happens or doesn't on lines..

You have the right to build a cabin on your line and actually do not have to ask anyone for permission. I'd take into account proposed new rules coming down the pipe i.e. there should be a 10 km straight line distance between cabins. I'd still let F&W know your plans but be aware of the rights you have as a registered line holder. As for clearing trails you have the right of access for trapping purposes which includes keeping trapping trails maintained.
