Nice shots! That buck kill looked great on camera. Good work!

KGB 01-04-2022 03:04 PM

Great video. You can actually see the bullet trail on the second shot.

Very cool! Enjoyed that.

Nice hunting and good video ,too bad the law of tagging and animal immediately didn't apply here ?
720 yards is impressive though !
Having the right gear is important but not as important as doing the legal thing Bag em and tag em ! especially on camera in northern Alberta!

Do you put your seat belt on before or after you start you care
The intent of the law is to harvest only one animal
It’s dead it’s not going anywhere
Let the guy enjoy the moment

kw12 01-05-2022 12:19 PM

What rifle are you shooting there?

That makes little to no sense what you stated !
Read the regs !

If you are a ethical and honest hunter you should not be condoning this or condemning me for pointing it out .

Tell that to the game officer when your toting an animal across a mile without a tag ! what was the intent is the question they will ask.

well maybe i can just save my tag and bag a bigger one if the chance arises ?
This isn't catch and release .

If its dead its tagged plain and simple ,there is no wait a minute and see how the day goes .

Let alone go fetch the game wagon and make memorable pictures and a great video for an hour .

His moment has been had and now its time to follow the rules .

This isn't the first time this has come up and I'm not the first to bring it up.

If I'm wrong Prove it !
or if the game wardens that monitor the sight can shed some light ,Id be more than happy to be corrected

They can come speak to me anytime they would like. They can send me a PM and I will give them my Name, Number, and Address. If they deem I did something wrong they can fine me and I will accept it.

I Guess My point at the beginning is if you are going to post a youtube video trying to be professional ,You should look at all aspects of the hunt .
Legal is Legal and professional outfitters and hunters have lost their license for such events .
If you look close enough at some post from the past there has been many blasted at for the same issue and that was only in field pictures.
Im not accusing you of being a lawbreaker ,just pointing out obvious issue that may get you in some Hotwater especially on the social media video world .

You have got some real issues
Take a break from your high horse there .
Noone said he was an intentional poacher .
Possession is 9 10th of the law is it not ?
Possession of an untagged animal is breaking the law is it not ?
whether its intentional or a mistake , explain it to the judge.
Lessons are learned from mistakes and when someone points out the mistake that makes them a Karen ?
Or is it the wife (Karen ) left and you have noone else to argue with ?
Cmon Man ?

Im surprised of all people the guy with all the time and money in the world who hunts every creature on earth with the best of guides would argue the point of legal requirements and hunting ethics ,

Do you think his intentions where to shoot another deer?
I dont think they were....
Wouldnt make much sense to video tape it for evidence??

Every time someone whines about a animal not getting tag the exact second it hits the ground, I shake my head. Maybe they forgot their knives in the truck? Then what? Better fine them because they hauled the deer back in a sled instead of walking back to and from the truck empty handed.

And really, you have to be making a conscious effort to be looking for it to be tagged as well, since one leg was pretty hidden for most of the time.

What would the fine be for this anyways? Like $125 bucks? A seatbelt ticket is probably more... So why get so bent out of shape?

Ya i hunt all over the place. You would be surprised what is legal yet totally unethical. But in my mind, what they did may not have been legal, but it wasnt the end of the world

Great marksmanship skills guys.

Personally, this long range hunting doesn't appeal to me. I like stalking in close or as close as the terrain allows. You know like putting your stealthy predator skills up against an animal's keen senses. I guess if the title of the video was "check out my awesome 720 yard shot on a muley" I wouldn't have clicked on it. But I did and work's slow today, so I thought I'd spend some time and write a review.
The question of how far is too far is a personal one and only the shooter knows the answer. But as an observer I think 720 is too far for me to consider it fair chase. Especially when I couldn't really see any reason to have a poke at it from that distance. There was plenty of legal hunting light left, I didn't see any other hunters making their way over to shoot, and it was a nice 4 point, but no buck of a lifetime. So it seems to me like a case of wanting to shoot from a long way out. The buck was moving around so I guess there was some urgency there, but you had time enough to set up a video camera on a tripod......

But again, kudos on the excellent marksmanship skills. If my dreams finally come true and Red Dawn happens, I'm glad to know there's guys like you two running around the Alberta countryside!
Wolverines! haha.

Fair Enough
Just Don't post a video as a professional hunter while carrying your backpack and trudging along with camera gear and all your possessions with a sled in tow for 1 mile and not have a tag in hand .
Plain and simple .
You know the laws and that wasn't just a 2 minute event !

Do as you wish just don't video it for someone to judge you on .
Who is bent ? Im just a witness to something special here !
It wouldn't be the first time a hunter lost it all because of a simple mistake .

No point in arguing with that guy. His heads so damn big he doesn’t listen to anyone. He’s always right regardless of the topic.

Nothing wrong with voicing your concern. Allot is happening when hunting and trying to film it doesn't take much to forget things like turning on the mic or in the excitement of the moment loading an animal into a sled. The animal was taken legally and transported legally. pictures were taken and video made before a tag was affixed and we will make sure it doesn't happen again in the future. Like I said if Fish and Wildlife wants to have a chat with me they are welcome to, if i was concerned with the legality of the hunt and what happened afterwards I could have simply left that part out or not posted a video in the first place.
