Nice Cam! It is pretty cool to beat a white tail at his game on the ground.

Nice buck. Were you intentionally hunting on the ground or hunting your way into the stand? The last few deer I have shot have been still hunting and within 30 yards but with a rifle. I still wonder if I could get it done with my bow. Congrats

My 2021 mule buck, not quite what I was hoping for but he seemed quite old and antler growth was rough in my area. Stayed hunched over in the rose bushes for a couple hours waiting for a shot but eventually got a 22 yard opportunity.

Wow Thrillbilly!! A brute and character doesn't even begin to describe this fellow. Did you check and find he had 3 beans? Awesome!

That’s a gorgeous one! That must have been a test of endurance and patience to get the upper hand on that experienced buck. Well done!

Last 5 minutes of the last day of hunting and I managed to arrow this buck. Close to 50km on the boots in 3 days. Good news was he had a cool rack and still had some velvet. The bad news was he was super skinny and most definitely had CWD. Bitter sweet. We were super careful and took all necessary precautions.

Wow that’s a lot of hiking! Nice deer, I agree it looks abnormally skinny.

Wonderful buck there. Fingers crossed he doesn't and if he does, good to get him out of the system. Bitter sweet indeed. Still, great shooting sir.

Well after a long year of hunting this guy last year, and a third cut flo green alfalfa this year, the Chemo buck met his demise. Countless trail cam pics and encounters. Noah sent a VPA from the old school Bowtech 82nd at 27yds and I have the proudest 14 yr old on planet. Buck is in lower 180s gross. But a dream for us finalized.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...915ab3b6bc.jpg

Noah has showed me what it means to be patient and I hunted 1 black bear for 3 years. Student is teacher. So proud of him. Good luck in rifle everyone.

^ Awesome, man! Congrats! Most grown man would be peeing their pants with that buck and effort. Well done.

Passthru 11-01-2021 06:31 AM

Wow what a whitetail! Tough to beat that at 14 or any age for that matter. Bet he was shaking after that. Congrats on a fine buck

It might not be cwd but a different type of injury or an infection of some type. My group has taken 5 or 6 cwd deer over the years and you wouldn’t have been able to tell on any of them, all looked healthy and fat

DRhunter 11-01-2021 09:09 AM

Outstanding whitetail, huge congrats to your son RDHunter.. Going to be a tough one to top!

Just curious what precautions need to be taken? Just avoiding the spinal fluid while cutting, or do you mean disposal of the meat?

My first ever harvest. Shot wasn't great, pretty far back but the annihilator broadheads did the trick. She didn't go 40 yrds. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...98116d27aa.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a02972788a.jpg

^Nice work! First harvest, whether buck or doe or cow or bull.... you learned something there and will taste all that much better. Nothing (IMHO) beats that first archery harvest (or subsequent ones either).... Congrats! My heart still pounds out of my chest when there is a deer within archery range.

Well done, Timberwoodsman!

Not a small feat, heading out in the snow with archery tackle. Kudos!
