I plan to use the 6.5 Creedmoor hunting this fall, I have 100 hornady 140gr sst,If anyone has a good working powder, I certainly would appreciate it. I have hornadys 10th addition reloading manual---12 choices of powder.

you can't go wrong with H4350

I’m finding RL26 to be a better option than H4350. My only complaint is stuffing it in the case.

I have had good luck with IMR4350,H4350,Hybrid100V and H380 in the 2 CM 's I shoot.I would like to try the RL26 but I never can seem to find it.

For 140gr I use H4350 and it seems to work well, getting consistent groups and low ES/SD. My buddies use R16 its a little dirtier but they can up the speed dramatically before hitting pressure signs. I am running 2840 they are running 2950ish and not hitting pressure signs yet.

Hornady reloading manuel, shows a max of 41.5 grains for 2700 fps--how many grains do your friend use to achieve that fps, with H4350 ?
The sst{super shock tip} in 140gr with those fps will for sure more than get the job done---Just a little cautious that hornady dont reccommend it.

His friends are using RL16

42 grains of H4350 and 140 grain spitzers has worked for me in 3 different Creeds. Velocity is around 2,700 fps from a 22" pipe. Accuracy is top shelf. I suggest using Lapua brass with small rifle magnum primers.

Im close to this I am running 42.7gr H4350 and I get around 2840fps out of my 26" hawkhill MTU barrel. This is close to my max load with H4350. I have no idea what my friends are running in there RL16. I can find out if interested. I'd do load development to figure out your node and max load, the 140gr Creedmoor seems to love the 2700fps range which is around 41.5gr of H4350 using Lapua SRP brass and CCI450 primers.

That worked for me as I found a node at 2720 and 2830fps

The nosler reloading guide, shows a slightly different combination, but the result is about the same--should be a good hard hitting hunting bullet.

After shooting a doe behind the front shoulder at hundred yards with a 129gr sst out of the 6.5 Creed, I dont want to again lol. Incredibly effective bullet.. Expect a lot of damage and try not to hit anything solid. 140gr might hold together a bit more YMMV. H4350 works well

What do you guys think of Varget? This is what I purchased for 6.5 140 SST's for use in 6.5 Creed at the suggestion of the guy at the counter.

Varget works well, clean and consistent but you won't be able to get incredibly fast speeds before you hit pressure signs, you'll hover in the 2720fps area. I used to use Varget before I switch to H4350

Although it is super consistent and easy to do load development for. Just watch for pressure as it'll come up super quick on you.

Thanks, makes sense why he would recommend Varget to start - loading them at minimum grains for SST 140. Just loaded my first batch last night, can't wait to shoot them!

You may want to try HV-100 as well. It produced the best spread/velocity combination of any powder I have tried with 140 SST.

Dont think he reloads much :sHa_sarcasticlol:. Theres some better options for us speed demons for sure. H4350 is a pretty good bet. Let us know how they shoot!
