I’m considering buying a Winchester xpr,any reviews?pros/cons??

I don't know anything about reviews but I bought one in .308 in 2017 and I love it. It shoots very well. Has a nice crisp trigger and is worth every dollar I spent on it. It is my go to gun now.

I'm not sure what they are like, however I was in the Canadian Tire in Edmonton Windermere a few days ago and they had some camo ones on sale there. The 7mm RM was $379 and .270 Win at $399 I think, could have been even less. Seemed like a pretty good deal.

There is nothing wrong with that gun at all. Buy it for $400. All these guns go bang, and are at least as accurate, likely moreso than whatever Grandpa hunted with.

There is a recall on them, but they are pretty much just another economy rifle , like the Remington 783, or the Savage Axis.

Check the serial # here to see if it is part of the recall before you buy one. If you don't, you run the risk of killing someone.

It appears that the rifles that are on sale were part of the recall and now have been retrofitted.
Also, Winchester has a $50 rebate offer on until the end of September.

Muzzle control at all times, then you need not be concerned about killing anyone.

I know a guy that has one. He loves it

You get no argument from me about muzzle control, but if you are implying that a safety is superfluous, well I don't know that makes sense.

I'm not implying any such thing. Don't go making strange assumptions.
A firearm is as safe as the person in control of it. Period.

Thanks for posting this sns2, i know a guy who owns one and he never once talked about this recall or problems.

There's a difference between an unsafe firearm and an unsafe person, big time.

Muzzle control is great until you fall in a hole or slip. Accidents happen. Functioning safeties provide safety. Relying on them solely is not wise either, though some unfortunately do.

A firearm is a mechanical device and subject to failure at any time, any place.
Firearms need to be checked for proper functioning and repaired if required - safety included. Situational awareness at all times is far more important than some realize.

I worked on the Gun Counter at Cabelas Abbotsford and the XPR is head and shoulders above the 783 or Axis. Much better trigger and much better bolt smoothness. More like a Browning AB3.

Agreed. It's key. Above all likely. Accidents still happen as there will always be holes and logs. The older I get, the more I seem to find em too:bad_boys_20:

I had one in 30-06, came with Talley style rings and spare mag. Accurate, light and carries well. No comparison to Rem or Savage budget guns.
Its what I used for the 300 yard factory ammo/factory rifle competition a fee years back.
The only thing I didn’t like about it was it wasn’t .308 Win

That is the caliber mine is. It is now the only gun I carry. With bullets from 130 to 180 gr. I can harvest anything I am allowed to.
