NSR goldeye/mooneye run
 

Hey guys,

About 7 years ago i fished the NSR in the middle of the city and happened to hit it on the holy grail of days. We caught over 20 goldeye(i think it was them, and not mooneye anyway) and i have yet to ever be able to replicate it. We were just throwing small spoons and it was an absolute blast - super fun time, great fighting fish in the current.

So a few inquiries;

- Do the goldeye migrate? And if they do how do you know when they are visually or timing wise?

- Does anyone else try to target this windfall of fish?

Late May and June are the best months for them. They school, so if you get into one of them, you generally do quite well. One of my favourite fish to target in the river!

Goldeye migrate to Manitoba in the winter if I recall correctly, not sure on timing of when they come back though.

My bad. Was thinking of the peace.

There is an impassible dam at the end of Tobin Lake Saskatchewan, so I guess goldeye can't go all the way to Manitoba anymore. Still quite a ways though! And summer once the rivers start to clear up can be a blast for the silver bullets.

Just wondering why they would travel downstream that far then migrate back up the river? Are they following food?
