The story of how a lot of those cars like the mustang came to be is such a good one. Lee Iacocca would have made a good prime minister.
I was so disappointed when I went to Detroit in the late 90s. Just unbelievable what its become. The new plastic cars just dont give me the same feelings and I dont care if they go the speed of light either. I can't explain it. I wish I could go back in time. Haha I'm like uncle Reko on Napoleon Dynamite. |

GM had huge problems with their vehicles catching on fire (still do) but they paid (something like ?) 43 million to a charity to avoid publication of the stats. Their trucks with gas tanks outside the frame rails killed MANY more people in one year, than all Pintos made from 71 to 80 (nearly 4 million Pintos sold). I've often wondered why Ford doesn't start a "Classics" division or some such, essentially their classic body styles wrapped around modern equipment, and sell them as limited production items.
