Ugliest Non-Mange Coyote of my Career

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...pso9d5pttv.jpg I believe this to be the ugliest non-mange coyote that I have ever killed. I suspect that he either had the "shoulder-lice" but he may have had a different type of lice? Or even different condition. Once upon a time folks referred to a grade "V", this would have made that grade! Also note... Flattened by the Magnum Stinger! Look at the cable, perfect condition. Couldn't tell you what lock tho, may have been an old style Camlock with hand filed teeth, or a Lightning Lock. Reason I think he is a lice coyote, look at the stain on the belly. |
Wow that's is ugly. Most of my yotes look a slight better than those. I can tell buy my grades. Hahaha.

Im pretty sure I saw some CG knock off jackets trimmed with fur similar to that flea bag....

Maybe Plucked and Sheared Coyote will become the next hot trend.

I had a couple of wolves about 5 yrs ago that were just like that. Void of most of their guard here. That was before I started seeing the shoulder mites affecting the coyotes around here. Not good hopefully it's the last one you see like that.

Marty, the Wildlife Disease Unit in Edmonton might want those photos and info, (if you haven't already done it). Page 35 of the latest Alberta Trapper maq. They are asking for trapper input and it will help in the long run.

yeah something is off with it for sure, I would inform someone.

I caught 7 wolves about that bad this year and a few others that were not a whole lot better. Worst luck i have had in an area.
One of the wolves was so bad that it stood on the bait and could hardly walk away when the skidoo drove up to him. Some were skinny and starving to death as well. Interesting though the wolves I caught in the areas I was in last year all seemed fairly healthy. I think thinking out the pack or even coyotes in these areas helps them in the long run |

This was the last one that I caught last year and made me decide to pull my snares. It seemed otherwise healthy and didn't stink like a mange coyote.
Is it possible that it is the shedding of the winter coat? http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/x...psitkbp2zk.jpg |
Well Marty not much hair there to stop your kill spring from getting that wire really tight in a hurry. I think that short hair is why some times a cougar gets killed with a kill spring, 265 BAD combo.
Nice catch by the way. |
