Trapping Help Needed in Calgary Area Farm
My friend asked if I knew anybody that would help with trapping or snaring some problem animals. Sheep and small goats getting killed.

Sheep goats killed
Small livestock killed and not eaten, probably dogs doing the killing.

What direction from Calgary is this happening? And are they certain it is coyotes? or dogs .

Little late in the season for trapping for fur. From what I seem most coyotes are mating these days. Seems odd need more info.

There's is a trapping season closure in Alberta, for coyotes, to protect them during the time that they cause the most damage to livestock producers. Coming right up at the end of the month. After that, you need to get a Damage permit from a fish and wildlife office, which can sometimes prove to be a painstaking process.

Coyotes were seen in the yard at night. I didn’t ask if they were being eaten or just killed. This is very close to Chestermere, but outside city limits. Fish and Wildlife have been contacted. I have a couple people interested in helping. I do know that one of the lambs was hauled away.

Thanks for the replies, I have found someone willing to give it a go.

Whether the culprits are coyotes or dogs, they need to be removed. Dogs would likely bark while chasing the livestock.

If your friends problem continues I work in the sheep industry and do predator control work and consultation. I can do it all but specialize in sheep as that’s where most of my jobs come from. Don’t let it go too far either. If certain predators are preying on sheep and certain measures aren’t taken it’s unlikely to stop. Farmers often wait and lose enough sheep or livestock that it would have paid to hire me right from the start. Even hiring me for just a consultation often puts them on the right path. PM me of details needed

I’ll recommend Red dog he knows what he’s taking about An how to take care of them predators
