I took a picture of a 20 inch rainbow trout that has similar red coloration. Wonder if it is just a certain strain that has the coloration?

Where did you take that photo?

Those rainbows remind me of the ones I used to catch with my dad in Carson creek when I was a kid. Such a beautiful fish all those spots and red tinge much better than the silver bullets that are in stocked lakes.

The picture of the trout was taken at a different kind of location a couple years ago. :) This red rainbow was a live fish living in a big aquarium at a live exhibit of the Fishes of Alberta at the Museum of Alberta. I believe the rainbow represented the native rainbows of the athabasca drainage. The big trout tanks on display were beautiful. The big brookie was gorgeous too.
