Rabbit/Hare hunting near Edmonton
 

Hey guys, I’m was hoping someone could suggest some good rabbit/hare hunting spots within an hour of Edmonton if possible? I’m new to hunting so I thought I’d try out something close by first. Thanks.

You know, this is a tough one. In all honesty, there are tons of rabbits in residential neighborhoods, but you don’t see that many when out in the bush, at least I don’t. I had a rabbit spot an hour away, but it is now been developed, and I would never have given out the location. You are most likely on your own. Very few, if any are gonna give out there spot for anything, especially to someone who is making his/her first post. Maybe after you have contributed to the board in a positive fashion for a few years someone might help you out, but I doubt they will now. Just being honest, not rude.

Hell no. Superstore carries rabbits. Nice ones too.

Wait for the first snowfall.Get out and scout. Brushy areas farther west should hold snowshoe hares.More open areas for jacks.The more tracks the better.

Find some crown along the river and go for a walk.

In case it’s not clear, you don’t ask people for their hunting spots, and you especially don’t ask people to post their hunting spots for the whole world to see.

A giant part of hunting is the actual hunting, and that includes finding spots and checking them out. You can recce spots with maps, books, internet, etc, and then you have to burn gas and rubber to scope the spots out. Oftentimes you drive for hours, walk all day, and learn “that’s a terrible spot.” It’s an all-year-long process. And when you find a honey hole you delete it from any maps that may fall into anyone else’s hands and you commit the location to memory.

I never see bunnies when I’m hunting but I know they’re there, elusive as heck!
Find willows, and thick bush and you’ll find rabbits. Be sure to ask for permission or find crown land. You can buy the ihunter app and it helps to find crown land, close to Edmonton might be a bit tough.

It’s the perfect time to be thinking about it though, after the first snow get out and look for tracks.
