My boy hunting Red Stag in Norway!!

So my boy is spending the next two years doing school in Norway (he got some kinda scholarship)

Part of their program is a 1 week ‘outdoors experience’ so he found the offering for a week long excursion to hunt Red Stag.

He got selected b/c he’s got hinting experience and could help the other students.

He’s sent a few audio clips of the stags ‘bugling’…. It sounds like a crazed beef cow almost.

Anyways… here’s some pics he sent.. enjoy

Good to see him getting his hunting fix.

That is fantastic

Takes guts to move away to another country and fend for yourself. Good on him.

An Amazing experience for him Bessie ..... he will remember this for the rest of his life.

What a great thing to experience and remember , chance of a lifetime and you Bessie must be one heck of a proud father . I really like seeing family things like this.

All the best to your sons education and all his journeys in life.

Cheers

Wow that is amazing, good on him for doing something like this. I did a student exchange in school to the Netherlands and is something I will never forget.
Looks like he got something as well, which adds the butchering aspect for alot of those kids which is excellent.
Also neat to see windmills at the tops of those ridges, would've been some interesting construction.

bessiedog 10-17-2021 12:37 PM

Yah it’s different there. Landowners own the tags

Sell them to hunters

They got three!

Pretty cool stuff

What a great experience to go to school in Norway. Also good to do it when you are young because it is one of the most expensive places in the world to travel to if you have to eat in restaurants and live in hotels. Fifty bucks U.S. for a Burger King Whooper meal, as one example. Even living like the Norwegians it is really expensive but a lot better than being a tourist. Very glad I was on an expense account when I was there.

bessiedog 10-17-2021 12:42 PM

He’s very lucky

Whole shebang is paid for.
There’s no way in hell we could afford this for him.

Stag

Congrats to your son. Opportunity of a lifetime.
What a beautiful place.

Stinky Buffalo 10-17-2021 01:38 PM

Congrats, Bessie!

What a great experience.

One of my relatives spent many years in Norway - he did a lot of outdoorsy activities while he was there; there's quite the "outdoor experience" culture there.

Now that he's back in Alberta, he's even more passionate about hunting and foraging. We have such a blast when we're out together.

He doesn’t know it now but he will in 20 years or so he had a very special time on this adventure.
Life is about not stopping the adventures and this is just one he chalked up….awesome.

Looks like the landowners don’t like the disturbance either, lol. Is that a silencer on that rifle the guy is carrying, lol?

Great experience for your boy! He probably wouldn’t get there without you along the way either, man. Congrats to both of you!

And good on Norway having this type of experiences for the kids too. Damn commies look like they know what they are doing, lol.

spoiledsaskhunter 10-17-2021 04:21 PM

boy that looks like beautiful country.......and don't those windmills do something special for the scenery.....guess at least there don't appear to be as many as around pincher.

Phil McCracken 10-17-2021 07:45 PM

That is such a great example of expanding one's horizons...good on your son sir. And good on you for the support...

Yeah, them red stags sure sound a lot different than our local elk. Almost mythical...I believe they may be related somehow but not sure...correct me if I'm wrong. Not a google guy.

Thanx for sharing great pics!...:)

bessiedog 10-17-2021 08:00 PM

I have no idea Phil…. Good question.

It certainly looks like one to me. Since such a device can only be used for nefarious purposes the kid's are probably robbing a bank next...

To the OP: good for you and your son!

Personally, I like windmill-less mountains

Savage Bacon 10-17-2021 09:03 PM

Dang that is beautiful. Just like others are saying, what an amazing experience.

Twisted Canuck 10-17-2021 09:14 PM

I think it is great what your son is doing Bessie, incredible opportunity for him to experience an entirely different culture and language. And what a great opportunity to hunt as well.

The other benefits we discussed will also expand his horizons. Are you sure it was the sound of red stags? :)

Smoky buck 10-18-2021 04:46 AM

Looks like you’re boy is doing a great job building memories he will never forget
