The dog was faster then I on Jan 6th, She made her first kill. I expect it to be a good spring, for it. The place I live is just destroyed by gophers.

Many years ago, we used to pin gophers to the sides of their holes with arrows equipped with judo points.. Now that I'm much older, I want to see what my .54 caliber Hawken would do...415 grain minie ball?? Sure would be a challenge to hit such a small critter with a smoke pole...

It is actually great fun, used to shoot them with my Left Hand 32 calibre Flintlock. You don't get to shoot near as many but it is a real hoot. Nice if there is a little breeze to help with the smoke. :) Still a lot of snow in the fields up here, have not seen any gophers moving around yet.

Very strange around here this year, I have not seen a gopher yet, normally I would have made more than a few red spots on the snow by now, not sure what's going on this year:thinking-006:
