What's thi track?
 

I found it today on the line in WMU 521, three toes, almost as big as my hand. The prints are spaced about 12 inches apart. Any ideas?

I would agree to sandhill crane. Possibly the snow melted a bit causing the wider toes. Was the track near a body of water?

tikka, the track followed a low spot across the trail and over a frozen beaver pond. The weather must have been warm but there are no claw/talon marks in the snow or on the ice. This is about 30 kms. south of Sturgeon Lake. I'll research the sandhill crane track, it seems like the most logical.

Not sandhill crane, their toes splay out more and the middle toe is longer than the two outside toes. Check Google for pictures of their tracks.

If it is near a beaver pond my best guess is that it is a beaver walking on it's hind legs, or perhaps it was walking on all fours and the front feet just aren't showing on harder snow. If the snow is a little harder the outside hind foot toes often would not show in the track. The back end of your closeup shot is consistent with the hind pad on the beaver hind foot. The size of the track is about right for an adult beaver hind foot.
