SVER Broadheads

Who has used them on thick skin game?

Blockcaver 08-21-2021 09:55 PM

I used the earlier version, the Ulmer Edge for part of 2013 and part of 2014 seasons. Didn't like the blood trails and quite using them. They sure fly good, but had some weird deviation off course when they hit animals as well. They were single bevel and not super sharp out of the package...no comment on Sevr heads though.

I shot a grizzly, a Roosevelt elk, black bear, whitetail, blacktail and Coues deer with them so had a few critters to judge from. Good luck!

Thanks. Randy Ulmer now uses the SEVR, although this might be has last season. He is a guy I have the utmost respect for.

Randy’s brother Rusty developed the Ulmer Edge which became the Sevr after some patent issues halted the Ulmer Edge production. Randy is one of North America’s most accomplished archers and Bowhunters. I share your respect for him and have known him for many years.

I agree with Lefty...not a fan of 2 blade heads either.

I’m my opinion they are the best 2 blade expandable on the market. My buddies have shot a couple truck loads of animals with them. Moose, elk, bears and deer. On marginal shots not much lives with a 2” swath cut through it.

Really sawed a bear in half.
And I would disagree with most, 2 blade broadheads have killed the thickest skinned animals more than any others combined a thousand times over.

Send a sharp German Kinetic through anything and it dies. See Ashby, grizzlystick, cutthroat.

Hypodermics have killed a lot of large game too.
