Sounds like some of the local (Edmonton) trout lakes and other bodies of water may be in serious trouble this summer. CFRN had a story about fish dying at Muir Lake and the Pembina River. Some people are going to check out Hasse and Spring Lakes today.

Can confirm the Pembina is full of dead fish.

Confirm the McLeod in the edson area. Mostly whites, few pike and grayling aswell

Just finished listening to the Orvis podcast that came out a few days ago. Tom Rosenbauer was talking to a biologist about warm water and how it affects trout. Thought I’d bring it up to my fellow flyfishers since we’re having a hot summer. Give it a listen. Lots of good info.

The windfall creek and the athabasca up by whitecourt both a dead fish

Yes bring a thermometer with you. Anything around 20 C (68 F) time to go home!

Heatwave Casualties
 

I was wondering if anyone from the Caroline area would know if the lakes there, Birch, Beaver would have suffered the heatwave fish casualties. I go there once or twice every year, but haven't so far but thinking of going if there's still fish to catch? Being shallow lakes they've probably suffered as well. Just trying to get a sense of whether it's worth making the trip.

I’ve fished a lot of the lakes mentioned and they are fine.

Pelicans have been hitting a lot of these small trout ponds also .
