went to slave lake today

I went to Slave this morning to meet with a co-worker and get some work things on the go.

All I can say is, oh my God. I lived there for many years, and to see the SE side of town. I mean, pictures are one thing, but to actually see a blackened blown out landscape with stripped black trees swaying in the wind, where once a huge neighborhood was, it just puts a lump in my throat. I talked to a few friends, co-workers and others, and to hear someone's firsthand account, and to hear someone say " I thought I was going to die " is so sobering. Just unreal.

My co-worker, who is currently on the clean up crew, and has been there since the second day, says the commraderie ( spelling?? ) and the positive spirits of everyone involved is overwhelming. Shows the strength of the human spirit.

Slave Lake and all its people have a big job ahead of rebuilding their homes and their lives. Lets not forget them when the media stories and news reporters do.

God bless all, my thoughts are with everyone affected. I just can't imagine what you all are feeling.

Good Post OF.

I hope those industrial shops can get up and going in the not too distant future.

I know I know. They will have to start with new buildings to begin with.
