New Rifle complete! Got a couple pics.

I recently decided I don’t need so many hunting rifles and figured I’d sell and trade off a few in favor of just one. Well there are a couple I figured I’d keep but I got rid of a few and bought a nice rifle/scope combo in 7mm rem mag and 3.5-18x50 scope with tactical turrets to shoot some long range steel and medium range game with confidence.

Went to the shop yesterday to pick out a scope out of a fairly long list of candidates. With a bit of insight from Marky Mark (of all people.... LOL!) and fortunately being able to look through the scopes I was interested in while they were mounted on the rifle I was finally able to put the package together.

This will be the first rifle I can consider a long range ready rifle, I can’t wait to get to the range and test drive the new turrets!

Sweet rifle! That is a long range rig.

I have to ask...how much does it weigh?

I’ll have to put it on the scale, but just from the feel of it my guess would be in the 7lb 6oz range, give or take a couple oz’s.

I just realized I forgot to send your rings!

Thanks, I’ve been saving up for about 10years in away. After cleaning out the safe I was ble to get my new setup and put a little change back in the kitty.

I’m thinking Halley, after the comet. I only get a chance once every 75yrs to get one!!!

If anyone really likes it don't worry, Kurt has a short attention span. It will be on the Buy and Sell within two years. LOL

I sure hope you’re wrong about that, but maybe I should start taking a “call list” just in case hahaha!

Yup, the load data, fancy scope cover, travel case and multi tool that comes with the scope.

It has a detachable mag box because I didn’t want to wait for the drop plate to come in, so by the time it goes up for sale it’ll have both.

Nice rig.

What reticle did you get? Looking at the online specs, the scope is at 30oz. About the same as an NF.

Let us know how you like the scope once you get some range time in.

Beeman3 01-14-2019 01:24 PM

Very nice set up. I’m sure you will be pleased with it’s performance. What Bullets are you going to try first?

I played with them in the shop and the Swarovski felt way lighter than the ATACR 4-14x42 and 5-25x50, but it was the eyebox that was the huge difference. With both nightforce I had a hard time finding the crosshairs but with the X5i it was instant. I’m not sure if it’s how the balance is on the scope or what but the rifle felt a lot better with the X5i. I was convinced I wanted either the ATACR or the Zeiss V6 or Swarovski Z6i, then Marky planted the X5i in my head, and after checking them all out I’m so glad he did.

I’ll give a full range report once I put some lead through the pipe for sure.

I got the 4Wi reticle.

Laughing! I resemble that remark.

I would be interested to see what the total RTG weight is. Looking at it id say 9lbs and change.

Hows the knee?

The scope would have to weigh 3 pounds for it to weigh 9lbs, the bare rifle just over or at 6 pounds. It looks a lot heavier than it is.

My knee is still messed up but I can get around. It’ll be a long road to go yet, I have surgery coming up in March or April to take out this hardware, that can’t happen soon enough!

That' a beauty Kurt and I did look at Swarovski X5i and there excellent along with the reticle in 4wi,plus zero stop and sub zero which I found to be very neat.it's not a busy reticle with all kinda stuff in it.This is not a tactical scope but a great hunting and target scope which is what I like along with 1/4 clicks, even though it has tactical turrets, the best of both world's into one.

That's an all around great target and hunting reg, very glad you got this.

I would be more happy to have that in my safe, but at least I can look at yours online, very nice ,smart move.Hope you enjoy it specially in my favorite cartridge .

Don_Parsons 01-14-2019 04:41 PM

Nice package Kurt

Sling, ammo, 30oz scope.....throw it on a scale. Im not sure id be too far off!

It looks like it shoukd weigh 12lbs. The stocks and barrels are light and they are engineered to balance well.

Its not a slight. Im just interested in real world weights.

I weighed the Clymer's predecessor at Grouse a few years ago wearing NF glass. The counter staff claimed under 8lbs and it was 8lbs 9oz, empty and no sling. Im only interested as id like to see such a thing coming in at 8.

No, not far off with full mag of ammo and a gun sling, I still think it’ll be sub 9lbs, if I had to put a number on it my guess would be 8lb 14oz.

Thanks JD, if you come out west and want to give it a few shots you’re more than welcome.

Itll be a very effective LR rig for anything and very packable.

Make sure you get something like the Breg Kodiak post surgery. It made my recovery very quick and endurable!
